Thermaltake Frio, is it any good?

When talking about best air coolers out there, we mean Venomous X, DH-14 or Megahalems, but how about Thermaltake Frio which Thermaltake claims "designed for overclocking".

Any of you are using it? Please give me your comments?

I'm considering it for my unlocked B55? Thuban may be the next

    Thanks for any input here.

    Have a good day guys.

It has just been released, still not found any serious reviews. In some reviews I saw, it just can't compete with other top coolers like NH-D14 or Megahalems, but their test method is suspect IMHO

Too bad they don't have any of top air coolers to compare with but it looks like a decent cooler!

Its mounting mechanism is not good IMHO

2-fan setup performs worse than one? :S

    Those numbers are kinda weird

Well, here is a rather lame review from the guy over at OCHQ.

I dont know what it is, but every time that I see a review over there, I feel like its done by some people who have just finished some computer annex course at a local vocational school. But for what its worth, its one more review to chaulk up to the frio. ^_^

OH wow, its 60 USD on newegg. For that much, I'd get a TRUE or megashadow or splurge on a noctua. If you can find a Mugen 2 and have the room, that's an alternative that's 1/2 the cost

In typical Thermaltake fashion, it looks kinda like a Coolermaster V8 knock-off. For the price, you can obviously buy a MUCH better heatsink.

It looks like the upcoming CM V6 since the V8 has a central fan.

Theres something definitely wrong with this product. Even their advertising video shows 80+ degrees on an i7 at <1.3v with 2x 2500 rpm fans. There are two possibilities: the heatsink is crap or the fans are ridiculously bad even tho they look like rounded Yate loons which are very decent products.

We'll just have to wait and see until someone trustworthy gets their hands on it. But considering the price you can get a Thermolab Baram with 2 fans and you're prolly safer.

My eyes are on Mugen 2 RevB and Z600 now I'm gonna have dual fan config with two 2000rpm 120mm fans so which one is better?

I owned Infinity (Mugen) years ago. It's great with proper mounting, push-pin is suck

    Thanks for your replies

I threw two GT 1850rpm fans on my Mugen 2. Temps dropped 1 - 2 degrees. I was not worth it, plus the noise of pulling air through a Mugen is horrible. Very high pitched. My config does not allow me to do a dual push, and that might result in much better temps.

My PII 945 is sitting at a very toasty 1.5v and my mugen handle's it with absolutely no issue. Considering your fan is 150rpm more than mine, I can't see any issue with a mugen to cool that or even an x6. Thinking about the 1055t or 1090T?

The Mugen can have up to 4 fans if you buy more clips. I don't think you'd see any added performance though.

Anyways, I can't speak for the Coolermaster, although I do own a hyper tx3 and even that keeps things very cool.
