P5B Deluxe - How much NB voltage is safe?

I tried searching for information on NB voltage for the P5B Deluxe, but all I could find was a link to an Intel doc saying that 1.35v was about the limit.

I've been testing my P5B Deluxe and found that I can get it to 400FSB without upping the NB voltage, but then to reach 500FSB I need to increase the voltage to 1.65v

Has anyone killed their board from too much NB voltage? I'm a bit worried about running it at 1.65v.

I hope you have adequate cooling for 1.65V because thats high for me.

I always push it about 1.60-1.65, while benching. And i just put some fan on the NB sink.
If you can go 1.65, keep going, but just for benching, not 24/7 usage.

ok, thanks. Do you think running 1.45v 24/7 is safe? I know that's outside of Intel's spec, but there's no 1.35v option:/

Why you need this big voltages on NB?
I have 3 P5B-Deluxe motherboards (1.03G C1, firt revision) and for 400FSB (max on 1066 strap from bios) need only 1.25V (stable). Up to 410-420FSB from Clockgen (still 1066 strap) and stable again. In 1333strap 520FSB and 1.25V is still stable, for more I don't have ram.
I thing more than 1.45V is for biiig benching

my board maxes out at ~410FSB at 1.25v, and my E6400 can reach ~415*8 on 1.4vcore. So I need more NB voltage than 1.25v.

    1.65 is REALLY pushing it.

I'd say 1.45 is probably the most u should go.

I run my buddy's P5B Deluxe on 1.45 but i have a good fan on it all the time with reapplied tim.

I think this is more a question how much a 965 chipset can handle, so here are my AB9 results (all 1066 strap).
    - I have used 1,45v for the last 7 months, no problem at all.
    - for benchmarking i use 1.7v for around 485fsb and above, no probs at all.
    - for max CPU clocks i use mostly just below 2.0v
    - Max i tried was 2,35v, 510fsb, but board crashed, couldn't use the board for more then one day.

P5B mostly uses 1333strap when overclocking, so you P5B guys shouldn't worry about 1,5v for 24/7 i think.

U need it if u're running async on high fsb's...

It's all a matter of cooling the nb. I have mine @ 1.65v 24/7 for the past 7 months and i hadn't have a single prob. I'm using Tt's extreme spirit on nb.

1.65 is to much imo for daily driver.

nothing over 1.5 without active or water cooling

Is there any way to check the NB temp, besides using an infrared thermometer or something?

1.45v 24/7 you need an HR-05 or equivalent for your NB. Don't forget a fan, coz it gets hot to touch without one.

ok, thanks. I'll look into getting a new NB heatsink when I buy a new CPU heatsink

I been running mine at 1.65 for about what, 6-7 months now... I got mine about a week after they came out. so when ever that was.

I use 1.85+ for benching and such (vmod of course)

My P35 NB chipest heatsink just barely gets warm with pushing 1.55v through it under load on my Asus P5k deluxe. I have pretty good aircooling on the heatpipes coming off of it so it dissipates the heat pretty fast.

Is that with stock cooling on the NB?
