    Pentium E = Allendale? Conroe-L = ?

I wonder wether the new Pentium E is a lower binned Allendale with disabled cache or a new core version with merely 1mb cache (like true Allendale to Conroe).
Is it possible for Intel to disable faulty cache to increase yields? If it's possible then they would probably sell their faulty Allendales as Pentium Es to increase yields (if this is true then Intel should still produce some "Allendales" based off true Conroes, that had a faulty cache)

And what about Conroe-L? I guess it will be a new core with only 512kb which should be really cheap to produce...

But do we know anything fore sure? (I always -hear- that Pentium Es are base off Allendale but is there some proof?)

pentium is a pentium, and nothing more than trash of a cpu, core 2 duo E4300 is your best bet.

Did you even have a look at the first benchmarks? Now please explain why it is "trash". Please be so kind.

IMHO, if the price is right, those are nice little CPUs.

they are actually based on core 2 architecture and overclock really well for only 70-80 bucks.

Pentium E is a dual core CPU with 1MB L2 and 800MHz QPB.

    E2140, E2160.

Conroe-L is a single core CPU with 512KB L2 and also 800MHz QPB.

    Celeron 420, 430, 440.

pretty ignorant statement. Anyway, yeah. It's all built off the C2D Architecture, so it's a quick little chip . Sounds kind of like the Cedar mill celerons. Overclock like a mother and run pretty decent for the price.

Forgive the off topic...any idea where Conroe-L's can be found?

Jacky, you're completely right. pentium-e is exactly that. Allendale with half cache disabled to increase yield. Same as how the early e6300/6400 were half cached conroes.
