    2* Heatercore (Dangerden) or 1* BIX2

well I might get myself a Watercooling Setup one of these days and I was wondering:

    should i buy:

    1 * Black Ice Extreme 2 (Dangerden)

    or

2 * Heatercores (Dangerden) and put those 2 in "serie" (dunno if this is the right word in english :p)

my first guess is that 2 rads will outperform 1 rad but i'm totally not sure ...

can neone confirm or disconfirm this ?

2 heatercores.. I'm just a watercooling n00b but word on the street is that heatercores generally outperform black ice extremes by quite a bit... not sure about the BIX2 though

yup i wanna know if it outperforms BIX2 too

    cos 1 BIX2 costs 102$
    and 2 Heatcores cost 80$

    so .....

    i'm sure that 1 BIX2 outperforms 1 Heatercore
    but do 2 Heatercores outperform 1 BIX2

oh and i forgot to ask:

how can i best attach an 120 mm fan to the heatercore ?
i know there are fanducts, fabricated by Dangerden itself, but it takes away 25% of the airflow and that's just plain stupid ....

well, we're having a kind of "group purchase" (dont know the correct english word) @ Dangerden

so all of the goods are shipped to one of my mates and that we everyone splits the costs for FedEx and all, you know

so i'll most likely go for and all Dangerden setup...

and Sproket, how long will it take to get your rad here in belgium ?
and how much will it cost in total ?

yes you can buy a heatercore from Auto parts store BUT they are not as small as Dtek's (the ones in stock) and you will need to make your own shroud.

The BIX2 can be beaten by a single heater core.

    Go to:

    www.leakycar.com

Check out core number 2-342 This is a large core that can take two 120mm fans on one side just as the BIX2 can. But the heater core is both thicker and, more important, it's a single pass design. You will have to cut off the extra tubing the core comes with, but that is no big deal. Will also need to make a custom shroud for this core. Not hard to do out of plexi. This core offers extremly low flow resistence. It costs around $30 at local Napa stores. I don't know what it would cost to ship to EU however. Would still be cheaper than a BIX2 though.

There are a number of even larger heater cores than this one that can also leave the BIX2 trailing in performance. The above is just the best performing for it's size.

    About core number 2-342....................??

Can you run UV dye through it without it acting like a trap?

Alot of heatercores act as a UV dye filter or trap.
The UV dye gets trapped in the bottom tank b/c its heavier than water thus turning your green/ or whatever color solution back to water.

    Hmmmmmmmmm??????????????
Be careful out there if you want to use UV Dye in system!

I learned the hard way.....I was always wondering where all my UV dye was going. I know others have experienced this also.

Also if you see your tubing turning white inside its B/C of your RAD/Heatercore!!!! Heatercores are built with soldier inside also, MORE Mixed metal to add to your water cooling system.

I use an AquaCoil II NOW.
    No UV Dye trap anymore.

I don't know how the UV dye would act in the 2-342 core. As it's single pass it might help, but I havn't done it. First I'd heard of this happening.

Heater cores arn't what turns your lines white.

Water wetter does that for you, it builds up a coating on the inside of your system. Beleive it or not this is what it is supposed to do, in part.

86 chevette heater core and Wetwilly's shroud for a whopping total of $26. best way to go, preforms better than any rad/shroud out there. cheap and easy.

    Craig:

I know that WW can turn your lines white and that what it does.
But my lines turned white without anything else besides distilled water. And my UV Dye was trapped in the Heatercore also. Many people see there lines turned white and UV dye disappear in 24 hours over at Procooling Forum.

    Just my experience.

Funny how I tried 2 different Heatercore's and both acted the same, then I tried an AquaCoil II and everything is just fine. Water is as clear as the day I put it in.

Also I took the heatercore out of the loop and everything was fine, soon as I added heatercore to loop same problems. It was for sure the heatercore adding problems.

Now if a cool cpu is all you want then a heatercore is your best bet, but if you do UV Dye and want that clear clean tubing look then your best to go with a Copper Coil type of Rad.

    AquaCoil II
    DangerDen Cube
    2 Maxxpert's
    etc

I have yet to try a DangerDen heatercore, they have a much smaller tank at bottom and maybe NOT a trap.

I have seen many people w/ success of UV Dye and DD Heatercore.

copper coil rads are horrible. they hinder preformance down to just above aircooling levels. don't touch a copper coil. Make sure you clean out your heatercore realy well before putting it in. Plus it realy doesn't matter if your tubing goes a little white. btw what type of tubing are you using?

I use clearflex tubing and have tried Tygon also.

My Aquacoil II is only 3 degree difference than my Dtek heatercore.

It depends on your core. If you use a bigger one you will destroy the bix without a doubt.

I was using a shrouded Chevy Chevette Heater Core...well still using it since only cooling my GPU with a pelt now...and mabe the NB soon to come ..........its a good heatercore but couldn't match the amount of air the bix could pull threw it...the heatercore was more restrictive, as the bix could just pull that air threw it
