What ever it was a full shut down seemed to clear it while a restart didn't.
Yeah, it will do that. No real functional issues here though. Just off mobo temps.

When I noticed it, I was running an Everest HD benchmark. Thanks for the link to that post, I'll check my case when I get home. I have a EnzoTech CPU heatsink with has a downfacing 120mm on it, so I don't think airflow is the problem. It also seems strange that the restart to check the bios resulted in a negative temp while the full shutdown restored "normal" readings. I am not really worried about it, just one of the early adopter niggles.

    Yeah 0311.

    http://www.gigasize.com/get.php/3194979056/Report.htm

Been messin around with the board, im quite pleased with it atm. Above link is to Everest complete Bench report.

    Bios rev. 0404
    516x7 @ 1.475v .63x Voltage
    NB - 1.55v
    FSB - 1.4v
    CPU PLL - 1.6v

    DDR2 1033- 4-4-4-10-3-25-3-3-3 @ 2.25v
    DRAM Static Read - Enabled
    Transaction Booster - AUTO
    Performance Level 7

EDIT: In my findings, DRAM Static Read - Enabled and Transaction Booster set to AUTO yields the best performance, the board wont boot with both enabled unfortunately.

    Hi guys!

Anyone know if there is any benefits in putting that chipset under liquid cooling?

Nb doesn't get quite a shot as predessors , PWM area does however, extra cooling required there... ofcourse if you push 1.55-1.7 volts through it it wil heat up in the end...
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

    mmm..i understand..

however the position of the chipset make easy connect cpu>vga>chipset WB's so i will pun on.

in mosfet area additional cooling is not a problem (as you can see on mi DH).

I'm running with a Swiftech MCW30 Chipset block, more because my mobo is inverted & because it's there. Have no real way of knowing what it's done for temps as the mobo sensor isn't anywhere near nb.But it must be an improvement.

This is pretty funny...I come here, read about a new BIOS, see a few people complain that they killed their board flashing it...proceed to download new BIOS and...

Yep...I bricked it. No Crash Free BIOS recovery either, since I think the booting part of the BIOS got trashed...whose idea was it to let the BIOS updater render Crash Free BIOS useless?!?

I don't even think I can crossflash since I don't have a board that has the same BIOS pin out (8 pins?!). Any ideas other than just RMAing the damned thing? Ugh.

At this point you will have to RMA the board...and wait. Did you flash in windows? If so, I would recommend using a USB flash drive for this board. there are 3 threads on the ASUS site about peolpe bricking thier boards with the windows flash utlity.

Here is an easy rma link for ASUS: http://helpdesk.asus.com/

It keeps it cooler? I'm sure no real functional benefit as this chipset is a madman at stock volts, but if you have the block already, why not use it? Swiftech block on mine here.

Guys just a heads up, sorry if this is already posted but I don't have time right now to read back.

Write recovery time and Write to read delay are out by 8 clocks in bios. It is usual to have to adjust up by 8 clocks but Asus forgot to do this in build 404.
    Code:
    bios memset
    1 9
    2 10
    3 11
    4 12
    5 13
    6 14
    7 15
    8 16
    9 17
    10 18
    11 19
    12 20
    13 21
    14 22
    15 23

this is the same for both options, i tried editing the strings but they are global to a host of settings are removing 1 thru 8 had 5-5-5-15 showing 13-13-13-23 is bios LOL

    Just watch out for this

Hey, speaking of Crashfree, how do you get the bios to reset after a failed overclock? I flipped off my PS switch and tried starting it up a couple of times but the fans just spin up, shut down and spin up for about a second.

I know I can do a CMOS clear but I was kind of hoping I wouldn’t have to.

Tried it with a usb and ps2 keyboard, no dice. I guess I'll just reset the CMOS if it doesn't come back soon.

The last time I couldn't get into the BIOS I was able to clear the CMOS without pulling the battery. I followed the steps on page 2-22 of the manual except I skipped steps 2 & 4. I left the jumper in 2-3 for about 5 minutes.

everytime my OC failed it would just spin the fans up and that would be it. I would turn it off via PSU switch and turn it back on again and it'd instantly turn on and shut off. Then it would boot

I have the same issue with this Mushkin Ram (XP2 8500) Brand new board would not post. Tried everything and never got it to post. Stuck the XP2 8500 in my P5W DH Deluxe and it booted right up. The only way I got the board to boot was to borrow a stick of OCZ 6400, the board then posted to Bios. Once I set the Memory voltage to 2.2v the Mushkin then worked fine. If I reset CMOS then it will not boot with the Mushkin.

I know I can do a CMOS clear but I was kind of hoping I wouldn’t have to.
Easiest way I know... physically pull out the power cord to the psu. Wait 5 seconds (until the speakers give a little crackle, indicating that power has drained from the board) and to be doubly sure, press the power on button on the front of your PC.

Plug in the psu cord, and voila... she will boot and prompt you that you had a failed overclock, etc.
