Hmmm, dependson what temps. Its hard to find the quiet ones. Danfoss as you say is out of the question. But I have 1/5hp tecumseh compressors that are silent, and barely vibrate at all.

What about scrolls? They're quieter than recips.

Copeland Scroll digital 4hp? It is said to have the ability to modulate load from as low as 10% to 100%. Great thing, i wonder does it has acceptable sound level?

    I was thinking...
Can we use two smaller compressors in series, one main - MBP and the second, (much) smaller LBP to achieve combined performance of one large LBP?

The small LBP compressor will work at low discharge, discharging the gas to the suction line of the larger MBP compressor. The main MBP will work with higher suction pressure, created by LBP comp. This may result in higher efficiency and lower noise.

Cronos, see if you can find Embraco/Aspera NEK2134GK or NEK2150GK.

The NEK 2150GK I used beffore was not only more silent than a NL11F but more powerfull too by a mile.

What i like about Danfoss is good documentation.
It is almost enjoyable to browse trough the comprehensive list of datasheets and papers on they website .
They could add the sound level to the datasheets, though.

NL11F is not the only option. Frankly speaking, i was not considering it at all.
Too small and not as efficient as newer energy optimized Danfoss compressors.

    Hey Johann

That system you made with the NEK2150 was the one I had here for a repair.

You're right about the power, it was very impressive. The noise level was about the same once it was retuned for quad core (260w or so) as compressors normally do get louder as the load increases.

What I didnt' like was the vibration. It wasn't noisy at all, but it seemed to shake the V2000 like crazy when it was running. Maybe an additional rubber mounted plate would have helped with it, but it really did vibrate more than any other compressor I've seen that was quiet.

I'm looking forward to trying the 2134 though, similar to the NL11F in power, and high efficiency, make it a tempting option. If it's as quiet as the 2150 without the vibration I think it would be ideal.

Can anyone tell me K-cal @ -40 for NEK2134, all I can find is there -23 figures.
I guess it’s just the way they put out there data sheets.

I just built a system around the embraco FGS 70HA and I was very impressed, it's a bit small for extreme singlestages but it is quiet, I have trouble hearing the compressor over the fan noise.
