I've just received a P35C-DS3R and I tested the memory wall.
I reached 737,9Mhz :http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc?id=207971
then my DFI P965-S, I reached 757,9Mhz with the same memory
Moreover, I measured Vdimm with Multimeter and with +0,7V (normally 2,6V), I've 2,85V
Hello P35 Giga owners:
After my unsatisfied experience with the Asus P5K-Deluxe, I'm thinking of switching the board to one of the higher end Giga P35 boards.
I've a few questions to ask here:
1. Does the 12phase P35 DQ6 really that better than 6phase P35 DS3P in terms of better future compatibility for quad-cores? If it's just for C2D, how much differences will there be btw the two?
2. How's the quality of the stock heatpipe based heatsinks on the DQ6? Is it firmly seated on top of the MOSFETs and NB/SB?? Did you had go through the hassel of removing them and reapply the thermal paste??
**Will a backplate based heatsink like the popular "Zalman" CNPS series CPU cooler fit with the DQ6's "Crazy Cool" back plate on the back of the DQ6's mobo??
3. I've read through all 6 pages on this thread and I'm still not too jumping up and down about the DQ6 or DS3P. Performance and stability wise, how do you think your boards compare to the Asus P5K-Deluxe NOW and in the FUTURE? (One thing I read is that the DQ6 is cooler than P5K-Dlx, especially in the MOSFET areas)
4. Any known major flaw in DQ6 or DS3P's overclockability? future BIOS fixable?
5. Asus P5K-Deluxe has a wonderful feature called "CPU Voltage Damper" and every PK5-Dlx owners including myself find it really works wonders, literally little to none "Vdroop" at all. I wonder how's the Vdroop on the DQ6 or DS3P in particular??
Much appreciated your help and suggestions

Same to me.. makes no diff no matter how many phase.
DQ6 heatpipe is very cool enough. NO need to apply or replace any thermal paste2. How's the quality of the stock heatpipe based heatsinks on the DQ6? Is it firmly seated on top of the MOSFETs and NB/SB?? Did you had go through the hassel of removing them and reapply the thermal paste??

P5K > DQ6 > DS3 if you want to overclock.3. I've read through all 6 pages on this thread and I'm still not too jumping up and down about the DQ6 or DS3P. DQ6 have NB strap at 417 FSB which u need a good multiplier cpu4. Any known major flaw in DQ6 or DS3P's overclockability? future BIOS fixable?
DQ6 don't have this feature but the vdroop is almost the same as having damper on5. Asus P5K-Deluxe has a wonderful feature called "CPU Voltage Damper" and every PK5-Dlx owners including myself find it really works wonders, literally little to none "Vdroop" at all. Thank you VERY MUCH Rithina for the generous reply, that was quick!
Yes, I'm awared of the FSB strap at 417 but just wondering how much higher do you need to go above FSB417 to cover the lost of memory bandwidth starting FSB417?
For example in the Asus P5B-Dlx, FSB Strap starts at 401 and FSB400 has the greatest amount of memory bandwidth and an user has to go all the way pass FSB450 ~ 466 to be able to acheive the same memory bandwidth as at FSB400.
If you've overlook at the graph and u've a graph in mind, you should know the curve I'm talking about
Thanks again

ya P5B deluxe is 400 but P5k start at 500 afaik.. but the soon release bios i heard you can change the strap for P5K..but gigabyte there is no details yet.
I used DQ6 and P5k D....and I choose to keep my P5K D instead.. I am not saying DQ6 is bad but a matter of preference

remove the motherboard if it is installed
remove the screws fro the nb and sb (you'll need to remove the stickdown plate on top of the nd heatsink), there is a back plate on the sb that you need to keep an eye on.
use pliers to remove the push-pins from the mobo on the mosfet sinks.
remove the heatpipe assembly
Assembly is reverse of removal - easy!

OK, so i am using beta F5g bios and have upgraded to the Corsair PC2-8500 (1066Mhz) memory as recomended on the Gigabyte QVL. I've come to the conclusion that my CPU is limiting my FSB and won't go above 450FSB....no matter what setings/voltages pumped through bios.
I can get 3.4GHz ok, thats still pretty good considering...maybe if i pumped 1.5-1.6V through the Vcore i get higher...but those voltages scare me.
My ethos is, the best performance with as little voltage mods as possible. So i've been working on the memory and FSB/DRAM ratios to see where i can get.
So right now i'm at 3.420GHz with 380x9 and 1.400V Vcore. Memory is running at 1140MHz with 2.250V. I'm using the 3.00 ratio in bios. Performance set to Standard, not sure about setting Turbo...possible stability issues when overclocking?
Can someone take a look at my Everest benchmarks and see if it's good or bad?

Same here kinda. I thought memory would clock a little better on P35C compared to Commando but its about he same. P35C seems a bit slower though but i need to work on the subtimings. Vdimm overvolts as wel. Didnt check with dimm but speedfan gives:
+0.2 = 2.11v
+0.3 = 2.22v
+0.4 = 2.37v
+0.5 = 2.48v

Good news to P35-DS4 owners.
I wrote to Gigabyte support because I have a problem when I start my computer. When system scans HD's I see a message that says AHCI BIOS Not Installed.
In a week they response to me to try a new BIOS: F5d. The problem continues but I have a huge improvement in memory performance in Everest with this new BIOS.
With F3 I had 8600 and now, with F5d I have 9500
Anyone know why bios shows AHCI BIOS Not Installed ???
Thanks !
I got a new beta bios for the P35-DQ6...F5x...hello?, "X"...what the hell?
I must try it, maybe it was relabeled or something.

does the p35 dq6 have any issues with intel ich9r raid controller ? cause my p965 dq6 goes crazy with the intel ich8r raid controller.
i wonder why only f2 bios for the p35-sd3r
it would be nice to have vdm adjustents by +.05 n not only +.1
hopefully we get a part of the dq6 bios

Weird, bios was labeled F5x....and in QFlash the file showed as F5x...but once flashed a POST screen shows F5 as does Everest/CPU-Z/Sandra 2007 etc.
Bios is dated the same as F5g...maybe a new bios spin later in the day or perhaps this is official F5?
