    Prometiea Rebuilt & Improved

Well lets go where no one has gone before.

    The insides of a prommy..

As some of you all ready know, I have recieved OPPAINTER's prommy to repair and mod.
I recieved it a day ago.his had broked the capillary tubing off at the cooling head ( evaperator ).
the first thing i am doing is repair and upgrade the unit. so i have ordered new capillary tubing and am going to try and replace the flexable tube chip-con uses to allow the head to move easily.
i have been taking full dig pics of the tear down and will start posting later tonight.
I am replacing the refigerant with r404a and adjusting the capillary tubing to handle the differance.
I know a few have moded theres and changed out the gas,but without the change of capillary tubing there is no way to fully get the benifet of the r404a.
and since his broke right at the evap head i will have to un brase the cooling head so we will get to see the insides.

before i get pm's out the rear about doing this mod....let me say this is not a cheap mod to do.there will be alot of time doing the final adjustments.and it is not for everyone.to do this mod you will need to be very very good with refrigerant systems.replacing the capillary tubing is really hard to do on the unit.

I was not sure about posting this until i recieved the ok from OPPAINTER himself.as this belongs to him ... he had the final say over posting or not.but he granted me the posting right.

so thanks OPPAINTER and i will see if we can set a few more records...temp wise that is.

i will begin posting pics tonight after i get home.....

    Have fun bowman ^^

It looks like OPP will have a new toy ;]

Will you "open" the evap and show us how is it built internally, its smth that interests me very much ^^

Im currently finishing my cascade phase change chiller, since theres no school right now i have all the time i need ^^ Already made the exchanger and im working on the first stage, mounting the txv to the heat exchanger ^^

Im planning on painting the whole chiller black and calling it (and aking a logo on its side) for fun "Prometeia the way it meant to be made" nVidia style ^^

    Can't wait for the pictures.

Maybe you would want a new evaporator on it. Let me know and I'll send you a new one like my gpu evap.

    Keep us posted.

now i am having to unsolder the block to completely change out the cap tubing.there is a way to connect the old and a new piece so you dont remove the head and take it apart.but this being OPPAINTERS and since it was broke right at the head ,i decieded to go ahead and replace the tubing and drier with a brand new piece.ordered a 100ft roll today.
since you changed out yours how long was the one you had and what was its diameter.i am tring to do some compairsons.

pic of cooling head with evaperator removed and if you look you will see temp sensors mounted into the foam filled plastic housing.they are the 2 triangle looking black objects in the foam.
and here everyone finally gets a pic of the evaperator on the side.

if anyone noticed the temp sensors are on the back of the evap, giving the coldest reading there is away from the heat load.this is why they show such cold display reading but the cpu temps are not as close.

this is the pic i know most everyone wants to see.this is the first picture i know of anywhere that shows the insides of a prometia evaperator.look closely and you will notice the capillary tubing going inside the block and bent into a u shape to put the refrigerant from one end and return it out another.this is why i say this is a extreeme hard mod to do because of the disassembley of the evaperator to properly replace the capillary tubing.there is no other way to do this right without taking the evaperator apart as can be seen in my pic.

    Bowman
Can you make it so the evap sticks out a tad further then before so when mounted it will make Full Xtreme Contact to the CPU without a doubt ?

    Thanks,
