Exclamation Official HD 2900 Discussion Thread

The less than stellar performance benchmarks are no surprise to board partners and AMD insiders. Two independent ATI board builders told DailyTech that Radeon HD 2900 XTX will not be a part of their initial portfolios. Given the additional memory cost and bulky card footprint, it seems unlikely the XTX will ever see the light of day given its current performance.

i knew it .. the 12" is the OEM version, the 9.5 is for retail like us ... and if its dragon head 2 then it wont use 8 pin PCI-E

but wait he said XTX is for OEM .. and XT is for retail ...

Unlike the ATI Radeon HD 2900 XT benchmarked yesterday, the HD 2900 XTX is a 12-inch card geared specifically towards OEMs and system integrators. Expect retail box ATI Radeon HD 2900 XTX graphics cards to use the shorter 9.5-inch design, as with the HD 2900 XT.
is there gonan be HD2900XTX for retail??

    messed up benchmarks?

Why is it that as res increase the 8800 GTX didn't take a huge performance hit, but XTX went down?

Like I keep saying they need to Fire their entire driver codeing staff cuz the suxors!

Ater 7 months of owning their current Flagship Card and only one decent set of driver in over half a year I would be more than inclined to believe the drivers are the culprit.

Lol, I find this hard to believe. All this wait, and this is all they have to offer. that sucks. I was expecting ATI to put up a huge fight.

How could this slip out and become public before they knew? What the hell happened to QC over there? How many boards were made like this?

Damage control is out the friggen window here. How could you not know it was going to perform worse ,before tunisia?

Those cards need to be sold as is at xt prices, i hope low benches is all that is wrong with them.

This is true now aint it? But generally you can count on Nvidea for stable drivers but the 8800's are just as bad! I just built a Conroe system for a buddy of mine and he got the 8800GTX for the build and same friggin situation as ATI currently which I was totally shocked to see but true none the less.

How many more reasons does ATi need to get off their asses and actually design and release a proper product with good drivers..
If the above is true AMD/ATi have shot themselves twice in the foot.... poor R600 performance and still no answer to the C2D...

DT used an overclocked GTX: 650/1000.

Now the deal is this, 2000MHz is pretty much concervative for GDDR4, GDDR4 has also slower timings. If you see the core is the same one, the frequencies are also pretty much the same (745 vs 750).

The R600 hype hits the fan? Or in best case its a comparable product half a year late and with a messed up power consumption?

It doesnt matter if its OC'd. The fact to the matter is that after 7-8 months of waiting...the best they could do is equal the 8800 series card??

why waste time blaming? there is a problem that needs solving naybe bios related maybe driver ,or maybe production related. Wasnt the xtx core supposed to be 900 or something?
