SB means StandBy, its a LED that shows you that the board is getting power from the PSU

Glad ASUS is releasing another motherboard covered in roller coasters of heat-pipes, fancy Brand-Engineered Logos, and shiny colors. I almost which they would make a motherboard for those of us that are more concerned with performance, price, and modability over silly marketing gimmicks.

Heatpipes actually offer silence, so it's not only a marketing gimmick.

However, putting a heatpipe that close to the memory module slots is a little...well... uhh.. odd. I mean, there's barely a millimeter or two space between the two. Fortunately it's DDR3 with lower voltage and lower heat dissipation.

Love the multiple e-SATA ports and extra rear USB ports. Of course, I won't be upgrading my mobo any time soon, but this looks really nice.

    Very interesting indeed, looks good!
It looks like a nice competitor for the DFI P35-boards that are on the DFI Q4 2007 Roadmaps (posted here).

Hope to see some X38-goodness during Computex-week, we'll wait and see! I'm drooling just thinking about that...

That is the first thing I noticed that is gone. Good to see that they are finally moving away from PS/2.

Can't wait for some benches to emerge .

Yep DFI really has that part of the market covered,,, as long as you don't mind waiting until the end of a chipset's lifecycle

I bet X38 will be another $400 motherboard... I just expect this boards to be good and not many failures as the 680is (in many cases not all)

The good thing is that this time they are releasing the mid-range chipsets before the high end ones (975X before P965) so they can make sure it actually DOES perform better

Yeah indeed..been planning my new rig for 7 or 8 months now,and evrytime when i was ready to bite the bullet something new came around(8800gtx,price-cuts C2D,2900xt...).I'm willing to spend around 2300 euro's for a new rig(without monitor etc),and because i don't spend evry dime on my machine i want the best bang for the buck...but the longer i wait, the more i get confused
