Since DFI Infinity s965 is impossible to get, now what?

I'm really upset, I have waited all month for this board. Every time I have tried to get one I missed out, Newegg was suppose to get more today but I checked the website all day every couple of minutes for the last 10 hours, and I realized it never came back in stock, they just remove the ETA 4/20/07.

    SO,
The Infinity is no longer an option, so my question is, which MB would be my best plan B? I was thinking Abit Quad GT, how would you guys say it compares? I know a few of you have owned and used both. I have already waited a good month, is there any sense in waiting any longer for some thing else? I dont want to spend too much, thats why the DFI was so appealing. Thanks guys.
    Current Setup:
-9850 GX2's in Quad SLI config
    -Asus P5N32-SLI MB
    -2x512mb of PC2-5300 DDR2
    -Intel Celeron D OC'd to 3.2Ghz
    -Windows Me with XP theme
    -WD Caviar 20GB Hard Drive
    -Zip drive
    -Jazz drive
    -3.5" floppy drive
    -5.25" floppy drive

I'm starting to like my Quad GT more and more every day. It is $159 after rebate at newegg, so that's only $20 more than the DFI. I think they are about equal in performance/overclocking. Some have said the Abit is a tad faster at the same settings. In my opinion, they're too close to tell a difference. The new bios for the Abit has solved most of the board's short comings. If both were in stock, I'd say go for the cheaper one...but since that isn't an option, I have no problem what so ever recommending the Quad GT to you. It's been able to overclock my E6600 100mhz higher than my P5W DH could, and I'm not going very extreme yet. Hope that helps. Basically, I'm happy with mine.

whats really annoying about the quadgt are the boiling pwm's imo.
also ram performance and power supply are not the best.
so i really like other boards better.

I actually got an email alert that it was in at Newegg yesterday. Checked and it was in stock. Still not 100% sure if it's what I want, so I passed. I'm sure more will be in soon.

Well I've sold my Abit AB9 QuadGT this week, it was a very difficult decision to make because it's one of the best boards out currently, I'm waiting patiently for the DFI Infinity 965-s.

We dont expect to see stock here in the UK till the 2nd week in May!!

If I was you, keep checking newegg & ewiz a few times a day, I'm sure you will get lucky within the next few days.

depends what you run & how you cool ...
& afaik there is nothing wrong with the RAM performance although it won't hit the same bus speeds as some other boards running looser.

I've got no problems recoomending a QuadGT either.
It seems that the main risk is getting a poor CPU these days as far as oc.

Have you tried all the stores listed on froogle that come up with the board ? ExcaliburPC have said they can order them within days (I dont know if they order after customers order through their site or if they're expecting a shipment).

Last I checked quite a few WR have been set on the P5B Deluxe and IMO it's a proven board.

The DFI looks like it is going to rock and it hasn't been out long enough to say for sure.

I was hoping that the DFI would be available over here this week, but now that it was delayed until the 4th of May, I went for the Quad GT (which I'll be picking up today).
It's my first ever C2D setup (after having AMD for over 2 years), so I'm anxious to see how it performs.

Do let us know how you like the Quad. I wanted to sell mine to get the DFI, but I went against it because of the performance of the Quad GT. It's really growing on me. Good call waiting on the Quad GT until the bios was out though

    DFI distribution sucks big a*s.
I think the quantities they produced so far are too small. Anyway, strangely its available from the italian distributor (we are ALWAYS the last to get something, but not this time he!), so I ordered my board and should arrive early next week.

ETA for germany is 4th may, later for UK and who knows when for other countries.

IMO, it makes little sense for DFI to release their 965P offering at all considering Intel P35 is due within two months.
You were not supposed to see this.

Well no one can keep them on the shelfs, so thats where the sense of it is. Two months, not every one can wait that long. I will just by some thing new by then.

I just bougt the Quad GT, I want some thing quick and simple I dont really have the patience for all of DFI's bios options right now any way (rationalization).

Any way I'm sure the Abit is nice I just wish it was the same cost, If the P35 is all its cracked up to be then I'll just witch to it down the road any way.

Get the DFI at Atacom for $147 + (for me $14 ground shipping to NY)

    https://www.atacom.com/program/print...00&USER_ID=www

Not saying out of stock with them, but high on the shipping. I have placed orders with them over the years from time to time. Have not had a problem.

    EDIT: Not in Stock...Order cancelled
