Swiftech Pump leaking

I have had my pump for 3-4 months and the thing leaked all over my 2 week old DVD burner...

I made sure the pump was not leaking from a lose fitting - and it is actual pump that is leaking.

Can you guys tell me what to do?

I called Swiftech and they will replace it...but whats to say this one wont do the same and cause more damage?

Are there any reliable pumps?

Please help

hydor l30 seems to be very reliable. I never owned one of those swifties but all i hear is problems and problems. My bros hydor l30 has been flawless for quite some time

I hate to say it but the Swiftech pumps stink !! I used to swear by them. But I've had two fail and had to rma, one started leaking and both of them chewed up the magnet/impeller asymblies.

I would get you a Hydor L30 or Eheim 1250. There is a reason they are so polular and held in high regards.

One word Eheim, their pump are guaranteed 2 years and it's not by mistake, they work great and the customer support is really good

Nobody has any pumps in stock, except swiftech

Hydro and Enhiem are nowhere to be found

My Via Aqua 1300 has been pretty reliable... No problems to complain about here but then again it's only about 6 months old.

22b check out your local aqurium shops (should be plenty near you in FL) surely they will stock either the Eheim or the Hydor and like Colin said the Via are also a good choice.

Do you have a pic of the pump alone? How did it leak? Is it a crack in the plastic?

I dont see anything wrong with the pump, it just looks like it is not holding water.

I know that it is coming from the pump and not the fittings for tubing.

I will take a closer look!

It's really weird, if it's leaking that mean there should be a crack somewhere

Mine did the same thing, it was leaking from the potting compound around the motor magnet. From within the housing itself, not from a crack or leaking seal. But it only started leaking like that AFTER it had chewed up the impeller.

My Swiftech pump is not leaking but it is very very loud. It almost sounds like gears grinding. Sometime i would unplug it cuz I just can't stand the noise. (worst than delta) Anything I can do or try before I replace it?

just get rid of it before it fails or leaks -

I made sure that my system shutsdown if it reaches 50c but the fact that this vibrating hunk of junk leaked pissed me off -

I'd just get rid of it!

Check the impeller and the magnet, it sounds like your pump is chewing them and that's bad

Turbo if its that noisy the damage is already done, rma it back to Swiftech and while your waiting for the replacement get you a reliable Eheim or Hydor ! and keep the Swiftech as a spare

Its very sad to hear as this pump is only about 2 months old. I'll be looking into a new pump this week. Thanks alot guys.
