impressive for a stock cooler, what do we compare this OC'd card performance-wise to?

hmmmmm seems like the 8600 gts performs about on par with the 7900 gto/gtx

I get very similar 3dmark 01 and 06 scores with the same cpu speeds.

At the same cpu speed my card gets 7300 in 3dmark 06.

I thought about buying this card for my second rig, but the problem is that the performance without OC really suxx and the ATI x1950Pro is much faster...

But with this OC this card definately roxx

    Crazy clocks m8's...

Today i tried something like that
    Grabbed a borrowed asus 8600gts, 1,5v vgpu and 2.33v mem's...

Stock "half" cooler and stock thermal paste

Put two tornado (92mm and 80mm) on it and pray to lord to keep listening at the end

Just check the reached mhz cuzz i used for this test a normal xp, daily speed (4.3Ghz) and i used 1gb ddr2 mem at 800 cas 5 cuzz my 2x1gb kit is F#cked up, tommorow new one for a 3dmark run in the future.

    stock cooler

    the add ons

At this time i was praying to keep listening after this

And final result with 1,5vgpu and 2,33v mem's

1Ghz is really walk in the park with this cards with proper volts...

Your lucky most people hit 750-760 nowhere near 900mhz.Upload the bios anyway anywhere you want maybe you have some special bios that could lead to other people reaching 900 mhz without mod.Thanx for the reply

    @ To all with 8600gts...

I modded to 1.472 vcore ( 1.462 on load) and default vmem.
Core can do 945mhz with 2300mhz vram but not everywhere stable...

Eg, I can play for hours some games like mafia, test drive unl, alpha prime etc...but it freezes after some time on other games like oblivion, colin dirt etc + atitool...

It freezes for 4-5 sec and then it pop up a msg : '' Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered ''

To be stable i need to downclock it to 900mhz core...

I know that the problem isnt the ''high'' overclock but something at the clock change ( 2d low power / 3d ) and the switcing frequency...but...how...

Is there anyone with the same prob here ? :S
