    E4300 1:1 Support on DFI P965-S?

    All,

Just got my DFI P965-S and E4300. Been messing around with the board and so far it has been the best board I have ever worked with. However my RAM is only DDR 800. I am trying for 3.6Ghz 24/7. To do that I need a 1:1 ratio between FSB and RAM. So far I have not been able to force that setting with a 4300. Does anyone know if there is a way to get this working with a 4300? Perhaps a Beta Bios with this function?

    Thanks!

the only thing i can suggest if it doesnt read the cpu right is try the bsel mod, it may work and it may not, sounds like they need to update the bios to run this cpu,

this may be to your advantage if the bsel mod works with this board and bios since you probably wont have the oc wall on that cpu if it works

i really do not understand what your trying to say or do.

in order to do 3.6ghz you need 1:1
    says who ?

ram is only 800mhz ram or thats what the bios shows you when it boots?

why do you say you need 1:1 ? does the board not overclock very well when running a 3:2 4:5 or 5:4 divider ?

you do realise that 1:1 @ 3.6ghz will make the ram run way over 1100 if i am correct,, possibly 1200 or higher, i cant recall what it is.

whats the multi you have for the 4300 ?

you can usually do high OC easy if you set the ram to 667 or 533. but this depends on your ram

you need to describe what settings your uising and what hardware you have and what you are trying to do if you want better help.

    ok 4300 is 800mhz bus @ 9x multi
so its gunna take you 400mhz FSB to do 3.6
this inturn depending on your ram could result on a max dram freq of an insane amount, well over 1200mhz depending on the ram.

Thanks Oskar! This is a great board you have here.

Settings to use are 266 Boot Strap with a 533 DDR setting. Works like a charm

Why is there so much confusion in here. I wish I had my dfi already so I could try to help you out. But it should have a 1:1, even in 800 strap. That said, running around 400fsb, I can only assume you're up into 1066 strap, if you're not setting it already.

To do 3.6, yes, with 9x multi, you'd be 400fsb. And 1:1 would give you 800 yes.

Might be a noob question but the options for boot strap in bios are 133,200,266 so what do these equate to? i.e. 266 = 1066 strap?

yeah your right,, hmm wtf was i thinking lol

this still dont make his question any more sensible.

he needs 1:1 to do 3.6ghz just cuz he has ddr800 ?
    like hell
1:1 @ 800mhz is only fair if you have really crap a$$ cheap ram. that can't OC

now if you have better ram 1:1 is not needed, let it as high as the ram will go.

now if your saying that the mobo requires 1:1,, as in it really acts wierd if you dont use 1:1 then ok fine i can see where your coming from

but this still doesnt make any sense. if he needs 1:1 then set the bios ram divider for 1:1 and go,,,

i dont see what the issue is.

Peaker is correct as far as the strap is concerned

most bios' will show dram as 533 667 and 800 set it for 667 and crank it to 400 FSB .

ugh is that right 667 will give you 800mhz dram for 400mhz FSB or does he have to go to 533 and then OC.

damn it i been enjoying the freedom of unlocked ram and fsb so i dont even worry about that anymore.
my ram and fsb are independent of each other, so now i have forgotten the 965 essentials lol.

The settings I am using 266 strap and 533 DDR effectively create a 1:1 relationship. On the 200 strap there is no effective 1:1 setting aka no DDR400 setting.
