Memory Price Fixing suit Tossed. What will happen?

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070409/...nix_us_lawsuit

Apparently the suit was tossed out by the judge as it was not "detailed" enough. I'm wondering what this is going to do to price of memory?
What do you guys think? Lately prices have been pretty low, Are they gonna go up again?

What a mess in all directions.

In 2003, the United States levied a duty of 44.29 percent and the
European Union slapped a 34.8 percent tariff on Hynix's DRAM chips
, alleging that government-affiliated banks had subsidized Hynix's production via low-interest loans.
I think prices may be not be very stable in the coming future and will most likely explode.

Not really. Prices are always down for the spring sessions. Prices of DRAM have historically been cyclical, however there are a lot of other factors that will play more into the price of memory than this lawsuit.

    The biggest factors will be:

    1) The rate of adoption of Vista
    2) The memory needs of DX10 games
    3) Fab allocation of the DRAM manufacturers (many are moving to Flash or other memory techs, which may raise prices)
    4) Rate of adoption for DDR3 (imperfect fab mixes will cause prices to rise or fall based on accurate mix predictions) vs the rate of development of DDR3

As usual, most people are over-reacting to a piece of news that has really no bearing on memory prices at all, when the biggest factors are what they always have been : supply and demand.
