If i could get rid of this noise i would`ve laughed too.
I'am running prime now for an hour or so and i found out that sometimes the sound stops for a minute or so and then starts again. First thought was that it has something to do with the iteration change in prime but after a little observation it doesn't seem to be

It works just fine unlike the last one although there are a few mistakes/errors that need correcting.

Theres no temperature adjustment in CPU Features anymore but you don't need it either now as they have fixed the 10 - 16oC discrepancy between Core temp & Smartguardian.

CPU VTT has been miss labelled as HT Link Voltage so now you got 2 HT Link Voltages.

PPM sets itself to SMM instead of Native & when you change it & reboot it goes back to SMM. This doesn't appear to make any difference though.

I cant tell any performance difference yet & as I never had any problems it hasn't fixed anything either.

I could use some help , I have the DFI 680 and cant get passed 410-415 on the FSB. This is the case with several chips I have , I even have tried different kits of ram. Ram Dividers seem to have no effect nor does vcore or vdimm. I am kinda lost hoping someone else had a similar issue and figured it out .

    Thx

Edit: PSU is Silverstone Zeus 850
and I am using the 521 Bios

Thanks for the insights. I won't have a chance to try it myself for another week or so... I finally have my case mods done and I'm ready to start assembling the whole rig.

BTW, I just got parts for my friends system to put together... Including an EVGA 680i board and a G0 Q6600. I'll definitely be trying the G0 in both my board and his to see what can OC better. I'll certainly let you all know the outcome.

hey guys ... i recently bit the bullet and have installed vista x64 on one of my drives... i gotta admit its pretty decent. compared to back in the beta days when i tested it they seem to have added a lot of driver compatibility.

anyways, what was the deal with the speedstep or c1e stuff ?? are there things i need to disable to make sure it doesn't speedstep my rig or something? i set the power plan to high performance is that all i need to do ??

    Heyla guys,

I've got a DFI 680i LT SLI T2R Board with a Q6600 B3, on air cooling with a Zalman led 9700. I just changed the CPU from an E6600 that i was used to clock for daily use orthos stable @ 3,6 ghz 400x9 with ram by syncron 1:1 @ 800 mhz.

Now i'm having some problems oc'ing this quad, i remember there was kinda a oc guide with bios settings and some screens, both quad and dual cores.

I also remember that for quads i have to flash my bios, i just did it and flashed it to 4CTST521 or something..... are there any new bios for quads or something?

What looked strange to me is that yesterday i couldn't find out how to change the multiplayer that was stuck to 9x.

I just had some minutes to look in the bios, so sorry if i'm making stupid questions or if i look noob Just need some help oc'ing this quad with my setup, i would like to have a daily stable 3,2 ghz 400x8 Q6600 on my DFI 680i

Thanks in advance to all who could help me

    Regards,
    Michele!

This is the result so far... wanna try to find a stable config orthos tested at least at 3.2 ghz 400x8, but still have problems changing the multiplayer in the bios.

tonight I just found a quite interesting thing, when I priming my Q6600 at 3.6g @ 1.4v at load without a fan blowing the digital PWM the temp is only 60 at core temp 95, while the temp suddenly goes up to 67 once I have a fan blowing to the PWM and the load vcore goes up to 1.42v.....

anyone has came across this shift of temp of cpu vs temp of PWM?

I know this is not XtremeStandby.org or something, but has anyone gotten S3 standby with Vista working at all? My PC starts to standby, but all of a sudden, all the HDDs click off and then come right back on immediately.
IIRC, it used to work with my C2D, but it seems to not work when i plopped in the C2Q.

Congrats on your purchase. You can find tons of info via the link in my sig. The correct BIOS for the Q6600 is the 2C version. The 4C is for extreme procs.

as I known before 4c is for quad so I flashed it with using my q6600 and also cannot select the multiplier. In the offical site said 4c is for quad core as well, so you sure 2c is also used for q6600?

When the BIOS first came out in April, the 4C was for Quads and the 2C for dual cores. In the 521 release, they changed the BIOS configuration but did not change the nomenclature making it very difficult for people with a Q6600 to know what to use. This was confirmed by Raja on the DFI forums.

Now the beta bios releases that have been posted lately appear to be unified but I haven't tried it.

I just flashed with my q6600 to the 2C 521 bios and could unlock the multiplier.... but had some stability and oc problems...... with the 4C 521 i have the multiplier of the Q6600 locked at 9x but at least i have a stable OC at 3.2 ghz 1.3 v as daily used and dual prime stable.

I just cannot go up with the fsb and dunno why, also tried to change to the 2C bios to set the multiplier to 8x to check if it was a cpu frequency limit, but also with 8x multiplier i couldn't boot up the system with the fsb above 360 mhz...

Do you have any tips for a stable 400x8 daily use Q6600 air cooled system?

i'm on qx6700 stable at 400x8 ... it would help if you posted your settings to see if there is anything glaringly wrong with them...

in general though, ya first have to get all the voltages right. vcore, NB are the most important. SB core should be bumped once. go with tony's standard 1.44 VTT and GTL's from the tables he's posted. i'd keep the memory at stock timings while ya figure everything else out.

once all the primary voltages are set then its a matter of finely tuning the GTL's to your setup. very minor changes.

like i said post your settings at the 360 FSB or whatever is the max ya can get it to . . .

I'm at work now but I will put a pic later once home but numbers are 11k+ read and 3k+ write. much better than my ddr 1200@ 2T .
    Thanks for your blog!!!!!

I will let my as5 sit for a few days and then try for 4ghz as I have clocked 4.2ghz on air and ran orthos blend at 4.1 for 2 hrs before I stop it due to heat. We'll see, this board is not easy to setup but now is very solid. Ran 3d mark 06 ALL tests in loop for 8hrs no locks or anything. I'm golden so far.
