As for the x3220, it's apparently binned differently for lower TDP/voltage/temp. (or something) but it could all be just rumor. No one, to my knowledge, has been able to confirm anything.

Time will tell if the DFI 680i has any advantages over other 680i boards, but it has a great layout, great support, excellent BIOS options, and it's DFI!

Hi, I have a new issue with this board and Vista x64...

When I select shutdown, the board appears to be cutting power instantly which has ultimately corrupted my OS install...

This evening after doing some Prime testing at all stock settings just to ensure I have a stable/working board... I shutdown Vista x64 via the start menu. It immediately shut of the PC without going through the requisite (Logging Off... Shutting Down...) routine.

I then restarted the machine and it gave me a message after POST indicating that Windows was not shut down properly... what did I want to do? I said... Start Windows Normally.

Thinking this was odd, I tried shutting it down again. Same thing... immediate power off without going through the normal logoff/shutdown routine.

This time the OS would not start... I had to cycle power again and got it to start but now the OS is corrupt. A lot of systemprograms won't run (welcome center, control panel, etc.).

Any thoughts on why the board might be killing the power right away? Is this a BIOS issue?

I'm going to reinstall Vista tomorrow and try this again, but I'm a bit concerned.

I am not running Vista x64 (I'm running XP Pro SP2) but I would think that if this were a BIOS issue the problem would occur regardless which operating system was used. I am not having this issue, mine shuts down normally.

Are u hitting the 'power' button on the start menu to shut down vista? If so, that doesnt actually shut it down. It puts it into sleep as default, and I know some of the builds ive done on Vista have issues coming out of sleep and often crash. U can change the power button settings so it shuts down like on XP, or click on the arrow to the side of the restart? button and it will give u all the restart/hibernate/sleep/shutdown options to choose from.

wow this is an LT board for over $300? that's insanely expensive for a board that is supposed to be the "budget" revision of a chipset. I wonder if DFI will release a non LT version, it took them long enough to bring out their first 680i offering...

I must say though,I may buy this board based on the fact they use digital PWMS alone. I'm sure that alone will help against these horrendous ram killing scenarios we are seeing with almost every other 680i based board right now.

hrmm... motherboardpro was the place to try but it seems they have emptied the DFI warehouse... even before newegg listed the board.

they are now reporting May 16th as the next possible shipping date...

Hey, Eyeborg, dont suppose u've heard any more about this issue? Only its a deal breaker for me! LOL! btw, the Enermax galaxy I have is the EGA1000EWL, if that makes any difference, i see the one nuzgo is having problems with is the EGX1000EWL.

I ordered my DFi 680lt from motherboardpro Friday should be arriving tommorrow but I'm having second thoughts about building an entirely new system and waiting for the X38 or see how the P35 goes. So i might just sell it. If anyone might be interested pm me. It will be of course unused/unopened.

Yeah, I was... thanks for reminding me of this. I'll look into that. Not sure why things are corrupted or disfunctional, but I'll try another reinstall and pay more attention to how I shut it down. Vista can be a PITA but the eyecandy makes it so worthwhile!

It seems Mbpro is really trying to make a good impression and build some cred. They seem to have a direct line with DFI in CA so they are on top of everything. I highly recommend them.

indeed... its uncanny. and someone mentioned in this thread they only became a partner with DFI last week...

newegg has a whole section of their website devoted to DFI called "The DFI Store" and they can't even get the boards.

it was your mention of mbpro that motivated me to order from them and thank god for it cause my board is on the truck to be delivered tomorrow. can't wait ! ! !

I like the fact they labled em...one for quad and one for dual...I was hoping they would do something cpu specific instead of trying to go "one size fits all". Well done DFI...

c2d overclocking is great so far for me. Same as EVGA.
Quad on the other hand isnt going well. Updated to beta quad bios, while running orthos, system shuts off as if shut off temp was reached. I have shut off temp disabled in bios. Strange. This is just my first few hours with this board, so i will go back to quad in the next day or 2 and try again.
