RD600 does 450fsb, but I would like 500 and faster raid performance.

I ordered yesterday. If this board is 500fsb, 24/7 stable, then I'm thinking the new e6320 (4mb cache) might be the ideal cpu for this mobo.

I am gonna pair this with a 6300 i bought in the F/S. Owner said it did 3.3 on stock cooling. So with this board and my Noctua tower heatsink, I am hoping for 3.5-3.6 24/7 clocks with low vcore. I just hope my Buffalo FireStixs are up to the task. We shall see

Hmm.. it seems like this board isn't getting a lot of hype. Anyone wonder why? It seems like there's just a hand full of us who are actually interested in this board.

Most people who read this forum already have Core2 boards. The ones that want it will be upgrading/sidegrading from other boards and just like to try stuff out, like me. This will be my 4th Core2 board just for fun. Also not many people have had the chance to try it out, so we're only getting a few reviews from people who get great results with every board they test.

Personally I'm looking @ the 680i DFI offering. The only reason I ever bought a 965 board was I wanted 500FSB. After owning the P5B Deluxe and seeing the poor Pi performance compared to the 975x boards, I never really looked their way again. This board seems almost as fast a a 975x board however. But still I'm a gamer who wants to run SLI or Crossfire so the 965 boards will not do for me. I think alot of people just aren't gonna waste anymore money on boards based on last years technology with P35 boards & DDR3 around the corner.

At this point DDR3 will be just like DDR2 when it first came out. At this point I could care less about DDR3. Waiting for second generation DDR3 chipsets

I'm gonna try out the first generation but with DDR2. I've got way too much DDR2 to invest in DDR3 without some serious improvement in performance over DDR2. I generally upgrade to the latest architecture every summer as there's an event here I like to compete in.

But for the price and preformace its sure does pack a nice punch. Also for me I am moving back to C2D after having a laptop for a while.

Yes it does, If I had an 8800GTX I would probably get this board. That single card scores what my SLI setup does. But again, I want to invest in whatever the top 3D platform is this summer so I won't be buying a 8800GTX just this yet.

I had just received a BX2, now have interest in this 965-S.

As for the "jumper parade" that you described for the BX2, could you (or anyone using a BX2 tell me what you are referring to? Are you constantly having to reset jumpers on the BX2?

Also, as an E6600 user, I have never been able to reap any benefit out of any multiplier other than the stock 9 X, and have reached about 9 X 380 to 9 X 390 on the 975X boards I have tried. Is there any reason to believe that this 965 board could do better? I tried an early ABIT 965 and an ASUS P5B Deluxe early on with this CPU and did not see any gains.

Other than solid caps, what benefit is this board supposed to have?

I see negatives (compared to Intel and ASUS, etc) of a somewhat weaker manufacturer with DFI. Am I wrong? Looking at their website for this and other boards it looked quite basic.

Raju, so ras to cas set to 3 works as it should with this board?

    edit: also
3.Reset button+"INSERT" key to clear COMS.
4.Reset button+"Home" key to load default clock.

great feature! I remember insert being used way back in the day when jumperless first started, but it seemed to have been abandoned. glad to see it's back. home is great too!

Yes Raja, show us some obtainable cas3 Pi times. If that show promise on top of what you've already shown, I'll just go ahead and order one.

I needed a new gaming system now. I've been running and old Abit IC7 and Radeon 9800 for several years now. The P965-S paired with an E6420 running at or near 500fsb with my new 8800GTX should run my games at 1920x1200 just fine.

It seemed like the right board right now for me. But I agree the chipset/platform has it's limitations and is by no mean the newest thing.
