Angry want to mod my antec p150

Hi i'm currently using the p150 case with 1 120mm rear, and two 92mm front
that setup is really not enough for my rig and the temps with and without the side pannel are 10 deg diffrent (!!)

i thought about drilling some holes for a couple of 80 mm fans at the side door, but don't know what that will do the circulation
any1 have an idea how to cool the CPU a bit.. ?

I would opt for one 120mm fan in the panel ( let it blow straight over the NB) and one 120mm fan on the top panel to help to pull out hot air...

Why 120mm , they move more air and are quieter in general...

Also what CPU cooler do you use for ya E6600 ?
Prolly the case heats up to much inside affecting CPU temps radically
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

    that's a good setup
but what about blowing air (120mm fan) right on the CPU (Tuniq) and another one over the RAM and NB?

the only problam i have with this drilling issue is that the case paint finish is very slik, and i'm affraid drilling to it will change it entirely...

    and about the 120mm drilling,
    what do u suggest i'll use ?

If you want it neat and done in 1 minute you will have to buy one of these , costs for wooden version cutters are 35 dollars but if you go for the heavey duty steel cutters costs will be around 65 dollars. I love these drills as they make perfect circles and it's over and done in a jiffie. I used to dremel out my holes taking me ages and loads of blades. Just put this one on the adapter and ya drill ....don't make the rpm too high and keep a steady hand , perfect holes await you !! If I hadn't bought these my holes wouldn't be so perfect.

I think 2 fans would be overkill in one sidepanel , they shift loads of air man !!

You have no idea how much time i've been looking for something like that..
i can't get anything that big in my area...

tried once with dremel.. that thing was a mess and a tons of work...

    and about the fan setting:
your saying 2 fans at the side door is too much ?
i'm thinking maybe 1 fan at the door, and two at the top
80mm or 120mm is a question of how big a drill cup i can find..

both are from the brand Bahco, I found the little 6cm one at a local hobby store, the 120mm variant I had to order ...

you can go for 2 slow spinning ones at the top and finish it off with a nice bezel from a watercooling kit eg

Great tape it up so in case you let it slip it won't cut it all ,... take ya time , fasten the panel firmly then measure it all and then cut the hole !! Once the cutter goes in it creates great force !!

Keep us posted mate , looking forward to ya work

what do u mean "tape it" ?
u mean around the area i'm gonna cut? so the cutter wont scratch it ?

    yeah,
at idle, about 9 deg drop
at load about 6 deg drop

currently i have too many intake fans.. my 120 mm at the back can't handle them all (adding another 92 mm at front raised the temp at about 1-2 deg)
so i think i'll add a 120 at top and another 120 next to the one i just finished..
the 8800GTS is taking alot of space in the tiny P150, and rasing the ambient in the case..
two 120 mm fans directly on him will surely fix that

i just have to find a good quiet fan

If that 120mm on your side panel is directly next to your 8800, I'd set it as exhaust, as they dump a lot of heat inside the case. It would also even out airflow.

the 8800 blows hot air out mate no need to disturb airflow

Just remember, it's always good to have slightly-moderately more intake than exhaust. Too much exhaust creates hotspots and gets dust everywhere.

You have 2x 92MM, 120MM Intake and 120MM, 8800 & PSU Exhaust. That should be fine tbh.

EDIT: Then again, Neo HE's push hardly any air. With that in mind, an extremely low CFM top fan may benefit temperatures.

keep in mind i'm going to add another 120mm at the side panel (temps r still lower with no side pannel at all)
that will defently lower the temps of the GPU, and probably the NB, memory and CPU..
with all this high end hardware, my OC is rather plain.. all because of a rubbish (for OC) case.

You may want to add it above the one you have now. With two, it'll blow and cover pretty much the whole motherboard.

My case is the other way around - plenty of exhaust not enough intake. 2x 120mm fans exhaust, plus the 120mm in the PSU, and the gfx card. Only a single 120mm fan intake, partially blocked by the sidesaddle HD bays. Good thing is my case has a mesh side panel so it breathes through there

Indeed a mesh top panel will give the innards some more breathing room, get yasself a fab lookign cover plate for a dual rad and drill out 2 120mm holes on top , place the plate over it and it will look amasing

Same reason a bunch of folks put slot blowers right under/over their 8800, tons of heat gets dumped out of those 3 vents in the cooler.

u want believe what i just found out
i don't have enough room for another 120 mm at the door.. the hdd bay is too close, and there's no way a fan will fit there.. i'm missing about a 1.5 cm..
i have to think of a way to get another one in there...
thought about cutting (using a dremel) a part of the hdd bay, but it's got those rubber things for holding the HDDS, so cutting that means loosing them (and limiting my self to max 2 hdd porbably)

plz give me an advice.. i want another 120 at the door too cool the NB and memory
