Much better, hop a fan on that condenser though if you havent and try to wrap the capillary line around the suction.

Much better, you will see a big improvment with the condensor, bat as said make sure you have a fan on the condensor.

Fan on the condenser, cools it more but it'll also cool the compresser!!!

Where the suction line meat te evap coil it tightly for about 15mm up the line, this is for sub cooling (that right?)

Then wind the rest of the cap tube around the suction line, use tape to hold in place as needed.

    Looking good ether way dude

Wow, that's a huge improvement bro, nice job. Good to see you're getting a better condensor too, definately put a fan on it.

Edit: I'm glad to see you're not using R12 on this one.

    AHK! R-22 NO FAN!

Fans are criticle as heat builds the pressur rises inside the condenser and makes the compressor work harder and it will keep piling up till BOOM or the compressor fries!

Your lay out looks good, just ad the fan and perhaps a open ended shell for it to direct air flow you'll be set.

Now now, compressors just cough and and the electrical or thermal cutout kicks in. Just like CPUs don't explode if not cooled. Things just shut off.

providing the thermal cut off hasn't fused, it can happen, rar but can.

um, do you have that suction line insulated? i cant really tell from the photo

if you wrap that cap tube around the suction line and insulate them both (i.e. so that no frost forms on the outside of the insulation), that'll assist in the subcooling even more. Make sure its closed cell foam at least

Yes cutoffs and pressures switches, especially cutoffs which may have never kicked could not function just from corsion and never being triped, plus over heating can fuse the componates so they can,t trip.

thats why where dangerious pressures can be reached in cascades or even by you guys who mix gases.

forgot to mention, at HVAC stores you can buy coil cleaner that will spray on and rinse with water, to rid and stop corrosion,of course damage already done can't be repaired. As long the corrosion is just the aluminum fins ,not a big problem, corrosion to the copper tube WILL compromise the pressure it will with hold.

The company Nu-Calgon has come highely recomended from most techs around here, I'm planning to give it a test my self as some of the condencing units I service are pretty damned greasy !

Cal-Brite*tm* is the type of cleaner they recomend.

thats the biggest part of what we use the bio-dergradable stuff you simply wash down with water and if the coils are not real dirty the condensate on evaps in A/c will self flush and letting the water from condensors run on the ground or down a drain is OK.

Ya thats the big plus for us, as ground water purity is very high on every ones list here so more environmentally friendly the cleaner the better!
