People aiming for April price cuts

    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...93#post2089093
Check out this thread. Is most interesting. People are saying that newer week Core 2 Duos are OCing not to what we normally expect.

Theres a lot of people these parts going to upgrade to Conroes at least in April for crunchers...

should you buy NOW before you get stuck with a Week 4x or take your chance and wait.

Also many people here getting sucky performance out of Wk4X's?

Maybe Quads are now getting the good raw material.

Been noticing this, ALL of Inte's future E and Q lines are based off the same die I can imagine the QX and X chips getting top choice, then Q66, then the "lowly" E series. I believe the 4300 is a true allendale right, so slightly different architecture than conroe (2MB physical vs 4MB physical) so I wouldn't doubt it Intel ties to increase yields by tweaking the allendale core. Glad I have my early conroe-based chips

I will be taking my chances and wait for April. I'll sell of my P3 rigs in the meantime. Overclocked or not, I will be gaining performance from it and losing loads of power consumption. I just can't stand my parents paying for a huge bill (drawing 800W continuously) without it actually being needed.
    Main rig:
    CPU: I7 920C0 @ 3.6Ghz (180*20)
    Mobo: DFI UT X58 T3eH8
    RAM: 12GB OCZ DDR3-1600 Platinum
    GPU/LCD: GeForce GTX280 + GeForce 8600GTS (Quad LCDs)
    Intel X25-M G2 80GB, 12TB storage
    PSU/Case: Corsair AX850, Silverstone TJ07

    It's not the P3 systems, it's the D820 loading at 350W without the X1950

My 19" CRT does add up though, going to get rid of that as well

Yeah 800 watts for crap performance.. dump em. I run P3s at my job and the only reason why they are running is because I'm not paying for the power and cooling. I cannot wait for these price drops, not sure if I'll be purchasing any chips as I'm still waiting on my QuadGT to get here but come summertime I think I'll be adding a Q6600 to the growing stable.

received a L643G009 from Newegg about a week ago, it runs about the cooler on air than my L631B115 on water, and so far is prime stable at 3.7 but at 1.52 volts, but of course I'll pick up a q6600 after price cuts

Same here, Q6600 will be the way to go. Wish I could get the Q3 prices in April though, will have to scrounge for the $500 if I go for a quad.
