Cool Labratoy Liquid Pro from SVC.com

Hey has any one else purchased their Liquid Pro from SVC and not seen any kind of temp drop compared to AS5? Just wondering because I have changed the tim and reseated this cooler 2 times now and have yet to see any temp difference between this and AS5!

Mine did not come in a Factory package from Coollabrotories it was sent in a small bag I'm starting to wonder if its fake and not the real deal.

all of it comes in little bags. its the only way ive gotten mine. It comes in a BD syringe and is about 5ccs worth. Squirt a bit out onto something and if it balls up its either mercury, or its liquid pro =D Liquid pro is more dependent on the contact of your HSF to the IHS than most other things that are silicone based with silver like AS5. If your HSF and IHS dont make good contact, theres less room for error in that dept from my experience with CoolLab

No I lapped the heatsink and its dead flat and I also checked the chip from corner to corner for true as well and that shows flat as well.

I have some coollaboratory liquid pro. I didn't get it in a bag.

I bought it off ebay and it just came in a syringe taped onto some pamphlet.

I have found a few times that if i didn't put enough of the Liquid Pro my temps would b worse than b4.
Maybe just double check that you used enough.

    To answer mcoleg's question:
It specifically says in the instructions to NOT use it on aluminum heat sinks because it will eat thru it. As for copper heat sinks it works great.

On my old opteron 165 system the switch dropped my temps 3C from AS5.

well something isn't right because I have yet to see the difference using this stuff over artic silver 5 other than the fact that its a pain in the balls to spread.
I would think that a thin coat applied to the IHS as well as the heatsink should be plenty.

So how bout you guys chime in and tell me if you saw a temp drop from AS5 please.

Yes! You will find that its not easy to spead on material other than copper but a small piece of coffee filter works well spreading it.

The only thing you cannot use CoolLabs with is Aluminum based heatsinks or anything with aluminum in it, its corrosive since it contains Gallium and they react with eachother. I saw a 5C at least drop with CoolLabs over AS5, just get a microfiber cloth and apply it very very thin, I dont know what you could be doing wrong other than that.

I know thats what I am saying bro, I just don't get it? I should see some kind of gain over the AS5 but I dont! I spread it nice and thin and evenly with a piece of coffee filter which works like a champ and I have yet to see anything temp wise for improvement.

If you happen to have a silver waterblock, don't use it either, it'll ruin it.

Gallium should not react with silver, what do you mean by "ruin"

check these stains from a couple of months under coollaboratory liquid.
does anyone know if this will void my warranty?
and yes this is as clean as it gets withough lapping

btw. there is also a thread over in the liquid cooling forum where this stuff gets discussed. see my post #40 there. guess i'm the only one who doesn't have that success with it ...

I highly doubt your cpu is flat without any kind of lapping. Pretty much every C2D i've seen has been concave in the middle.

Its an easy test. Put a bit more liquid pro in the middle. If it gives you better temps then your cpu is probably concave.

If that's the case then lap the cpu too.

My Conroe is lapped, and im using an Apogee water block, so I have pretty good contact. My temps with AS5 are 40-41c idle, 51-52c load. Using Coollabs Liquid Pro my Temps are 36-37 idle and 47-48c load. I honestly don't think the Liquid pro needs to be removed from the IHS, because I had remounted my water block with the Liquidpro still on there, I just put some more and I got the same temps.

It looks like youve already lapped it a bit on the outside of it. If so I dont think you have to worry about warranties, also you OC that chip no? again you wouldnt have to worry about warranties. That stain is the gallium in the little pores on the surface of the metal, easily removed using arctic clean kit and a plastic based steel wool like whats used in painting to give a rough look.

Whatever else is in there doesn't like silver. I can't find the thread right now but someone used the stuff with a silver G5 Storm and it messed up the block big time.

I thought they were designed to be concave and expand to flat when heated but i also read Marvel comics lol. The difference between the ceramique and coollaboratory was marginal at best I bought some and it just seems to be a refreshing alternative rather than a technological breakthrough. Is lapping your CPU a good Idea? maybe I should poll on this
I'm heavy handed and it could all end in tears!

Generally I would not think twice about it but the add in NewEgg as well as Cool labratory show it in a package and the whole temp thing made me curious as to why.

No other compound except mercury would act like Liquid Pro, like I said you either got Liquid Pro or mercury haha, its not fake you cant fake liquid metals at room temp.

Also the best and cheapest way to clean this stuff off is ... tooth paste
using this stuff for 1.5 years - gave me 5C drop compared to ceramique paste. Good contact and flat surfaces of CPU/sink matters alot here (as well as with regular ceramique pastes). Also note this thing is conductive - don`t spill any on your hardware when powered on
