I've used XP Pro religously, but I'm trying to learn linux now and Ubuntu is very user friendly. They both get my votes.

I only switched to XP in 2004/2005 (by then SP2 build 2600 was out), till then 2k was a better alternative for me, so I'll do the same thing whit Vista or other OS, cause I'm not M$ Beta tester whit a commercial OS like Vista (same as I wasn't with XP) .

PS.They should pay you guys for testing Vista, not the other way around.

    Diff systems for diff needs:

XP pro for laptop/"must work for business apps"
    Vista for the cutting edge
    XP home for the spouse

Perhaps think about changing the title? I'm using Vista Business currently, but don't feel enthusiastic enough to call it or any other OS for that matter "the best."

Maybe a more neutral, "What OS(es)" do you run on your main rig?

WinXP Pro is my favorite version of Windows (I tried Win2K, but XP feels more stable to me, as unlikely as that sounds), however Linux is still my favorite OS for daily use (despite some of the problems ATi's Linux drivers have), and BSD is just lovely <3

Why pay more for XP Pro? Home is cheaper and the only functionality missing is the ability to attach to a Domain.

    WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GROUP POLICY! GROUP POLICY! GROUP POLICY!

Repeat after me: Group Policy is awesome, and a must-have for windows security.

BTW, I noticed that Linux is officially more popular than all Windows Vista Editions combined.

Ubuntu thanks. It doesn't require a complete reinstall everytime I slip a new mobo/cpu combo into a rig.

Not acctually the case in windows either although you prolly should. To get gaming quickly (when i upgraded from athlon xp, nf2, 9700pro to opteron 144, sapphire a9-pirx480, x1900 pro) i played it lazy and uninstalled all mobo drivers and graphics card drivers swapped the hardware. Surprizingly windows did not the bed!
I'm going to wait to answer this poll till I beta test xs os v3 cause i've got high hopes, and because the xp installer makes me to angry to vote for it.
