    ASUS P5B Deluxe Standby Problems

If I set standby to S1 in the BIOS, it works fine, however, when I set S3 standby, when I resume, sometimes my PC will hang/not respond or respond erratically or BSOD.

Anyone else here had problems with standby on their ASUS P5B Deluxe?

    Thanks

Have you got S1 or S3 standby set in the BIOS?

Yes I am seeing the same behaviour, both in XP and now in Vista. If you set "S1" the video will "sleep" but the machine still runs and the fans still spin. It does resume instantaneously though. If you set "S3" and force hibernate (Vista hibred "Sleep") the machine will shut down but on restart I get no video. I assume it's the video drivers as most problems resuming are due to drivers.

So with this fix you were able to set S3 STR in the BIOS and you were able to suspend/resume without any freezes/crashes?

Ok thanks. I will try it now

By the way, do you have ACPI 2.0 enabled in the BIOS?

Wow, it worked I think! My PC now resumes from S3 standby and I no longer get memory errors or erratic application behaviours.

I hope it stays this way!

But I noticed one minor problem. I have PECI enabled in the BIOS, but in speedfan the cpu temperature is different as if PECI was disabled in the BIOS. This only happens when I resume from standby though.

Arghhh...I got a BSOD when resuming from standby today. page_fault_in_non_paged_area relating to win32k.sys.

I guess I'll use S1 standby as S3 standby is too problematic.

    S4 hibernation works fine though.

Anyone else with a P5B deluxe having problems with S3 STR standby???
