    BD7(II) vdimm mod?

Hi, I've been trying to figure out how to get some more voltage from this board, since my memory is currently holding me back from getting my 1.6A past 2.94GHz DDTUNG, are you getting oppainter's BD7-II? If you are, could you check out the possibility of a memory voltage mod sometime? Thanks.

Well, I'm looking into a P4 setup and the lack of vmods are quite a holdup. I was looking at pics of the BD7II today, and to me, the following chip looks like its the most likely canditate for vMem controlling. If one of you have this board, please post the Chip's Part number so that we can look at a schematic of it.

That's the National Semiconductor LM324M quad op-amp. I am working on the Vcore and Vmem mods for this board at the moment. Hope to have results for you soon.

I'll look for a schematic this evening, DDTung, if you already have it - do you mind sending it to me?

Any update on the mod ? I know my Crucial can take around 180MHz with max timings if I can get around 3.2v. I don't have the money now to get an IT7, and I'm waiting for Samsung to release PC3200, so a free performance increase would be encouraging.

Do you have the data sheets for the WINBOND chip? Send it to me and I'll work on the mod.

This is what I have got from Winbond's website.

    http://www.winbond.com/e-winbondhtm/partner/b_2_d_9.htm

You need to download the Traditional Chinese font pack from Adobe's website to view it though. There are no Chinese characters but I guess some of the symbols/tables they used are not supported.

I have taken this picture from HardOCP. It shows the location of the Winbond chip.

I've checked out the data sheets of the Winbond chip and have an idea how to do the Vmem mod. However, I believe it would involve cutting one leg(STRsen1 or pin 19) of the IC or the trace connected to it and soldering a VR to the two ends. Any brave soul who wants to try it can PM me for details.

Just now I tried to look for the details of the Vmem mod which I sent to ISS1 by PM a couple of days ago but couldn't find it, so I am not sure if I actually sent it to him. But basically here's what I gathered from available information:

The Winbond W83301R IC, which I believe controls Vmem, is operating in mode B(see data sheets for IC for details). STR1 is the output that gives 2.5, 2.6, or 2.7V to the Vmem based on VSET0 and VSET1 selected in bios. To increase Vmem, we have to play with STR1sense(pin 19) which unfortunately is connected directly to the output, that means we have to cut pin 19 or the trace it is connected to, and solder a VR between the cut ends.

This gets a little delicate and is not for everyone. I believe it will work if done properly, but do be careful.

I would expect a 50k set initially to maximum should be quite safe.

You can download the data sheets from the Winbond site.
