The p5w64 ws most certain does support conroe.

AS for it currently supporting 1333/333 I am unsure, some of the newer BIOS releases do mention added CPU support though. There were NIC issues reported with the 05xx versions though which is why I have stayed clear of them for the moment.

Once a newer BIOS releases without the NIC issues, I will certainly be trying this on my E6600 which is most certainly more limited on this board then it was on my P5B Deluxe, mainly due to getting no POST at all if I have the memory set to anything but SPD.

Earlier in this thread Kunaak posted a list of Asus boards that support 1333MHz FSB and which BIOS revision is required. I think it was page 2-4 somewhere...

Also I'm pretty sure all the 975x and most of the 965 boards were on the list.

    You mean this one?
Look at the tyranny of party--at what is called party allegiance, party loyalty--a snare invented by designing men for selfish purposes--and which turns voters into chattles, slaves, rabbits, and all the while their masters, and they themselves are shouting rubbish about liberty, independence, freedom of opinion, freedom of speech, honestly unconscious of the fantastic contradiction; and forgetting or ignoring that their fathers and the churches shouted the same blasphemies a generation earlier when they were closing their doors against the hunted slave, beating his handful of humane defenders with Bible texts and billies, and pocketing the insults and licking the shoes of his Southern master.

I so want to try this on my DG965OT but I only have one proc right now. If it doesn't work on this board will it hurt the proc?

What exactly is the ponit of this? You can always increase the bus speed in the bios so why is this so important what am i missing?

Primarily useful for folks who have cheap mobos without pci/pcie bus speed locks imo.

Hey, I have a D945, and I though since the e4400 is originally an upgrade from the D series (at least this is what i know), can this mod be done to my mobo?? I have an intel mobo and its not 975X (actually G965) and so I cant overclock it usually, does this worth try? and if this wasnt working can the mod be reversed?

The point is that when you have an new intel mobo and its not a 975X then you cant overclock even 1 additional mhz so 4 me I need this since I have DG965SS, but Im hesitated about trying this mod and I want to know if I can undo the mod if it failed. plz somebdy of how did it tell me if they can remove undo the mod back to original state

just use a qtip and some alcohol. it wipes right off. even if you don't have that, just use a napkin, some water, and scrub hard

ok well, if i cleaned it with alcohol or water wont that damage the pins, and would it be apperant that the cpu was modified if i needed to take it 4 replacement (no trace= warranty is still there), and would 266*17=4500mhz hold with air cooling?
One more thing is that 4500 needs a good deal of voltage and with my mobo in which i cant modify the voltage, will the mobo supply enough voltage?

See the link below. This is the best info you will anywhere on doing this with Presler and CedarMill. As for your CPU doing 4.53GHz, I don't know - I think that might be asking a bit too much - even if you also mod the VID.

The easiest way to mod VID with CedarMill and Presler is with copper tape (conductive on one side and insulating on the other side). You can do it with ink but if you're connecting a VID pin to Vss to change it from 1 to 0 then you also need to insulate that VID pin and run the ink from Vss to on top of the tape.

Just wanted to apologize for those who I said weren't doing it right. I just confirmed it doesn't function properly with p5b. It exhibits the same behavior as ds3 with old bios that doesn't support 1333

I have tested the 200-->266 FSB mod for E4300 (posted on page 4). But on a Asus P5B Deluxe, it doesnt seem to work The mobo powers on and off all the time (like you changed some settings in bios).

    I connected the following dots:

yeah, I noticed same going from 266 to 333. looks like the relative resistance asus p5b senses is more sensitive, or it compares bsel to microcode and if they don't match up, it triggers problems.

edit: if autozone is back in stock with more rear defrost repair kit, I might try doing a mod to drop my e64 from 266 to 200 and see if it works. if so, it should prove it doesn't compare against microcode, but rather it's the relative resistance bsel bases off is more small range for p5b

I did the 800@1066 version today.. ..and it seems like E4300 on GA-P965-DS4 rev 3.3 dont like it? Once PC had started on normal settings 370x9, but when i changed it to "auto" in bios - it just keeped rebooting.

So i cleaned the mod, thinking i made something wrong, redone it...

...and the same thing - PC didnt even started on auto settings :/

i did it like this - it looks okay, doesnt it?
