hmm wouldn't work too well without some modding on a naked CPU

And how can you say that ?.
And to peep who posted about the back heatsink at bracket area, if you read threads here you can see some get temp drops sticking heatsink on there like on the TT-BT etc etc.
http://www.overclock.net/faqs/70395-...ps-my-big.html
They would get better temps if they used Artic Silver epoxy not tape.
It uses the clip on the plastic bracket around the CPU socket. Popping the IHS off makes the contact surface that much lower so those clip-on heatsinks won't mount at all or with not enough pressure. Something would have to be modded to make it sit right on a naked core (mod the clip to make it bolt-through, cut the plastic bracket down, something).Originally Posted by humeyboy

Work and School, Work and School, oi!
I like the pin dissipation over the base. 120mm fan 62-82cfm is good, as well as a smooth contact surface. But only 4 heatpipes? C'mon! This looks like an improved version of the aerocool xfire (or the nitrogon above) which is a good but not great hsf...but testing will tell.

downward pointing sinks blow air across the mobo as well which helps to cool the vregs, mosfets, and (depending on board layout) the northbridge if it is passive. I had to replace my stock passive northbridge cooler because I have a tower cooler and the lack of airflow was making it get awefully hot. My vregs/mosfets/coils still get kind of hot though, I haven't figured out how to cool them off yet.Originally Posted by s1rrah

difference of 37g. Making the tuniq more effective and weighs less? But I would love to see a comparison of Tuniq to this if anyone happens to come upon one.
Man... you're right. Didn't catch that... I was looking at the weight without the fan.
tuniq has only three heatpipes....take a look at how its doing, lol.Originally Posted by LagunaX

3 other factors about the heatpipes needs to be considered here:Originally Posted by enz660
Ultra-X heatpipes are 8mm in diameter, that is a plus.
Ultra-X heatpipes seem to have better contact with the heatsink, that is a plus.
Tuniq heatpipes pass through the heatsink in the middle, which is a plus for the liquid and vapor flows, while Ultra-X heatpipes terminate at the heatsink.
I think the Ultra-X does have a chance to beat Tuniq.

I'll buy one if it beats the tuniq, but the tuniq does have 6 legs going up vs. 4 despite the base connections = more conductive surface area and volume, but the enzotech's pipes are thicker...we'll see.Originally Posted by enz660

The contact of the Ultra-X's heatpipes are much better than the Tuniq's contact and the Ultra-X got that little heatsink. I think the Ultra-X has a chance to beat the Tuniq.
yes, i think it might... i like my tuniq a lot but i do prefer horizontal sinks, to be honest - saves me lots of trouble cooling the n/b, mosfets and what have you.

Think ill buy an Ultra-X and find out how it holds up with my Tuniq using a few different fans and thermal pastes. Will order when I get outta work.
EDIT:
Will post results when I get it using 3 different fans, and 2 different TIM's.
Tuniq - Ultra X....Should be interesting.

Another important factor is the heat load. Although I know you're running a C2D at 3.60Hz or higher, I wish you had an overclocked C2D quad to load them to the extreme.
Ultra-X has a chance to bite Tuniq 120. However, only real tests will tell.
Eager to know when your're going to receive it.
