    Project Update:

Big Thanks to voyager on this one, As he donated the P4 631 for testing.

We finally got our hands on a 631 that can clock beyond 320MHz FSB
in my first round of testing I used our Single Stage R290 Phase unit.
We are planing a DI Overclock later 2day to see where we can take her

    Test Rig:
    Mountain Mods Twice 7 Case
    NexGen SS R290 Phase Cooler
    Koolance 1200W Liquid Cooled PSU
    ASUS Commando
    ASUS 6600GT
    Corsair 1X512MB 6400C4
    Western Digital 320KS 16MB Cache

    here are the results:
    6199.87 MHz P4 631 @ 1.7V
    413.32MHz FSB @ 1.5V
    826.6MHz RAM @ 2.0V
    NB Temp 26c
    SB Temp 29c
    CPU Temp -15c

    Project Update (Dry Ice Run)

Our initial Dry Ice runs have been exciting to say the least... for the first hour we were unable to break 5700MHz @ -55c but after a little tweaking we managed 6420MHz @ -40c 1.775Vcore

We couldn't keep the system stable enough for a validation past 6300MHz
This validation puts us 1 away from the top 10 631 OC

its 4AM and im going to take a nap b4 our next run.

Its been a real battle to find a reliable LN2 source, and it looks like we will be able to bench our 631 with some LN2 later this week.

http://www.OverclockingWiki.org has Diggs our 8GHz project, with a little support it could front page

Ok, so this is pretty old news by now but I wanted to post about it since I think its quite the project. The guys at Team NexGen are working on overclocking a system to 8Ghz using Liquid Nitrogen cooling and a very specially modified board.

Here's one of the LN2 coolers they may use. For the rest of the photos you'll have to head to their site . There is a small mountain of photos there with most every detail you'd want.
    Digg it here:

    8GHz Project Update

Got a lil update for everyone on the project

We had a chance to play with the latest Intel X38 Chipset and I must say it is simply amazing and if you have cross Fire cards you are going to love this chip!

    Here are a few Pics:

    More Info Available Here

Also we managed to reach 8670MHz with our P4 631 @ 1.86Vcore and -185C IHS Temp using Liquid Nitrogen, while we were adjusting to the chips behavior on LN2 we reached a sweet spot and she just kept clocking higher!
after we crashed her on 8.8GHz we installed XP Pro and attempted a validation but were unable to hit the sweet spot.

We used all 30L of LN2 in one run with the 631 so this time we are gearing up once for some more clocking this Sunday, but we will be ready with an install of windows and 180L of LN2 on standby

and some pics of the run!

The highest I seem to see, validated, is 6.8GHz...

Where is this 8.6GHz you speak of? I don't even see a BIOS shot of it.

Well, hell, didn't FUGGER do like 7.2GHz in BIOS about 2 years ago? Is 8GHz even anywhere near Windows stable?

Yes, and I've yet to see a CPU-Z validation of anything above 6.8GHz. 8.8GHz or whatever in BIOS is pretty irrelevant, and I'm using FUGGER's example to demonstrate that 8GHz in BIOS does not equal 8GHz in Windows. Like afi said, BIOS shots of clockspeeds 2GHz higher than you can do in Windows means pretty much nothing in terms of reaching a world record.

i completely agree. i've been following this thread for a while and still waiting for this magical 8 ghz validation as well.

windows not equal to bios as others have stated
