under the heatsink. You do not want to use AS5 since its conductive. Use ceramique or somethihg.

Thanks. I'll do the NB area too since the pipe will need to be moved.

We had a little OC sessions on last weekend with my friend (mikkomaa). We did vMCH-mod on MoBo, but it didn't work as well we wanted, NB maxim volts was 1.93V @ 529MHz PiFast stable, boot 398MHz, 1066 strap.

I wait 540-550MHz but no go.
WE had water-block on NB, water was freezing -10-15C
Half-solid Cu container on CPU and DICE.

    i must be missing something

my cpu does 480 under single stage

but my quad gt is stuck at 450

i borked my bios so i had it hotflashed at my retailer......now i can go 300mhz more than i could using the same cpu mobo ram psu vga combo

i went from a lousy 3500 barely stable to a much better 3800 and rising

but 450 is the absolut max.....451 is a no go....

    voltages all maxed
    lower multi.....

i must be missing something or i had terrible luck with a board....once again....

I have a QuadGT incoming for my E6320. I plan on using some AS5 or AS thermal adhesive on it as needed and wanted to clear up the exact problem area.
NO AS5, I USE zALMAN THERMAL PASTE FOR THE PWM AND YES I REMOVED THE BLACK PLASTIC UNDERNEATH THE HEATSINK I REMOVED EVERYTHING ON THE HEATSINK FINAL RESULT IS HEATSINK AND ZALMAN THERMAL PASTE
I USE AS5 FOR NB AND SB

why not use the as5 on pwm's, i did on mine and it works fine, do i need to remove it, my temps are great, the pwm get about 55 to 58c under full load with 6600 at 4.0ghz and 1.56 vcore

just dont want to ruin it in the long run if theres something wrong with this

People warn against AS5 in those areas because it could conduct electricity if it gets in the wrong places. I am thinking about a little AS thermal adhesive for the PWM. Thing is, once it's on and sets, it's a done deal.

    Dumb question.

Does the latest beta Bios contain all the fixes in 1.1, or do I need to flash 1.1 then go to the beta?

Those are different stand-alone versions, not updates or something... like patches.

    -------------------------------------

OK, looks like I'm done with no result. Has anyone else used the board with E4300?

just jump to the beta...you do not have to flash to 1.1 first.

I just noticed that the vcore is going up and down alot even in idle. Atleast according to uguru. When I have set for example 1.67V Vcore and just sit and look at the screen (meaning 'idle') it can varies from 1.63 to 1.69v according to uguru.

I have the vdrop mod done so when going to load it does not change that much.

Also, latest uguru shows a cpu-temp that is nearly 20 degrees lower than bios show when rebooting. At that moment I ran a P4 631.

And last, the issue with uguru not raising FSB has now happened with a Celeron as well. Here is a screenshot from the QX6700, look at the different FSB in uguru and cpu-z and crystalcpuid:

Picked up my QuadGT last saturday (my first ever C2D setup ).
Removed the heatsinks, cleaned things up and applied AS5 on NB and SB. Putted a tiny little bit of Arctic Ceramique on the 5 PWM's, but left the TIM on it (read somewhere that eva2000 did the same thing and got pretty decent temps from the PWM's)

It came with bios v 1.0 and I had big problems getting this board to work properly.
It wouldn't boot from my HD nor from a bootable XP cd.

I re-read this thread and decided to flash to bios 1.1.
    So far, so good.
I had a recent Xp install, from which I removed the Nvidia drivers, cleaned the registry. So I decided to reboot. All went fine, necessary Intel drivers were installed.

Can't say that much about performance, still learning and figuring out the board and memory (Crucial Ballistix PC8000), games etc.. will be for later.

Did a quick test on my Xeon 3050. Seems to do 3400Mhz nicely at 1.33-1.34V, watercooled.
The PWM's got very hot, about 75-76°C under load. So I put a 60mm fan, and it keeps temps in the low 40's. Much better.

Anyone has good tips for my Ballistix sticks for running over 500Mhz?
I have them running at 425Mhz, 1:1, 4-4-4-12 with 2.00V (I know they're rated for 2.2V), but I'd like to have a stable 24/7 settings, without the risk of burning them, due to too much volts on them.
    Thanks.

I haven't had a lot of time with this one. I do know my E6320 is a dog. Can't get above 3.2GHz with it. I dropped my E6600 in my QuadGT and was able to cold boot 515 x 7. I've booted up to 3.9GHz @ 1:1 and my E6600 will do that on any board with the proper voltages so I am not bothering to post it. I will be posting max ram speed + FSB. More later. I am on BIOS 1.1. This is real early-

I am testing with regular Win XP and two sticks of ram to make sure I don't gimp my OC. I'll try 4 x 1GB and Vista later.

EDIT- I gave the E6320 another chance and was able to work it up to 3465MHz-

It does 3150MHz without vcore increases fine. 3465MHz takes 1.53v to hold.

Tried 500x7, 1.39V under load (1.4350v selected in bios), 1.65 MCH, and ran orthos blend test for about 3 hours 20 min. with no errors.
(Check the cpu speeds read by orthos and core temp 0.95)

If my memory can do ddr2 1000 500mhz @ 4-4-4-12 and my cpu is now running at 470 x 7 3.29ghz why can't I get over 480fsb? I tried cpu with 480 x 6 2.88ghz which is less than 3.29ghz, so does this mean it is my board? Even with 1.7vmch no boot over 480fsb!

    Mine is a brick now.

It would not install Vista from an IDE DVD drive no matter how I tried. I had it set to IDE and "UDMA if possible" etc. It would not do it from Win XP Sp-2 in windows or from booting with the DVD. The window that has language options and the command to install would never pop up. Yes, I tried the latest Jmicron driver.

So I decided to upgrade the BIOS. I set everything to stock then tried to flash. It froze and crashed half way through the process. I've been building my own systems since 1994 and this is the first time one has done that. Now it is a pretty little brick with flashing blue lights.
