but that's what makes this board so fun!

i've thoroughly enjoyed this board despite its fickleness at times.

this board can clock my mem past 600mhz easy.

now if it could just clock my 6600 B chip past 3.6... maybe the dry ice this weekend will help

So I read through the whole thing about whether this is a 650i or 680i LT or something. Can someone please clarify if this is a 650i chipset?

    it's 1000% 650i NB but has a different SB than 680i which allows it for 2 x 16x compared to 2 x 8x of normal 650i

If you're not serious about squeezing every bit of juice out of your rig then this is a great board. I know this board is capable of more than I'm able to get out of it right now...... BECAUSE OF THE BIOS. Having to mess around with multipliers because they don't always work right is amateur at best. The board is stable once you get it set. Plenty of options and if they'd fix all the fsb holes this board would be awesome for the money. If they don't fix this soon I'll be looking at the DFI 680i when it comes out.
The little air system that could.

Do we know what all the FSB "holes" are?

Back when I had Bios 501 I could run my E4300 @ 3.1GHz with only 1.25V vcore. Now I am using the Bios 602 and I need 1.425V to run the same speed. However I am now able to reach higher clocks up to 3.4GHz @ 1.55V.

yet this is my first intel board in years, so yes still learning. so far iam very happy with the the board. After months of looking at nothing but horror stories with alot of the 650/680i boards. It seems this one is great..

hey about sub timings, what are some good settings for this board? loose or tight? right now i have it set to AUTO. i dont think i will be overclocking the ram. so i could prolly get away with auto? or should i set them myself...

try asking G.S Technician about the ram sub timings there's also the g.skill section. please post any info he gives for others that might be looking for the info.

anyone try running this board at some x 500 for 24/7 use?

i was doing some dry ice benching this weekend and i was capped at 9x500... couldn't budge more than that. figured the chipset was gettin' hot or maxed out.

i sent a pm over to tech at G.skill a while ago.

    will report back

i firgured out my problem, running 3-4-3-12 easily now that i set mem speed too 533 and put bus at 1570..is rock stable with all 4 dimms right now..not bad. like i said iam a bit new on the intel side..but my sisoft benchies showed some nice latency results

was prime stable 4 hours, till i turned it off, iam on stock cooling..and 68C is to much to me for long runs.

waiting on my damn thermalright ultra 120. also picked up some NB & sb coolers extreme spirits...

heh guys how critical is it to get a NB cooler on this mobo. I really think the stock NB cooler is holding my clocks back, and holding back stability.

    very critical.

it gets hot REALLY fast even with 1.5 volts.

if you want to do more than 450, i'd replace the stock NB with something better.

Think about the SB too. I never believed this before I saw it myself -> it gets quite hot even with stock volts (ok, I removed all the stock heatsinks and heatpipes). A normal passive Zalman heatsink wasn't up to the job (at least not with SLI).

I dont think the SB will effect OCs too much or stability overall, but I could be wrong, if I am Ill think about getting something for it

ok just ran some max fsb testing. I ran with 1.55NB all other volts on auto except CPU voltage. The max I got was 510, I was just trying to boot into windows and run a CPUz screenshot. I hit a FSB hole at 450, but ran tests @ 460,480,500,510, anything higher would post but I couldnt get into windows, the highest I tried was @520FSB

Well highest stable I get from My Striker is 475Mhz orthos stable, 500 sin't stable errors out under a minute.... I love to run in sync and for me 400 x 9 is fab with 800Mhz speeds with tight timings
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

2.6v ddr2 on the gigabyte was a bit too "amateur" for me!

Ordered the Plus open box and it will be here in a few days. Expect some benchmarks from me as well
