Yes it has, and I have yet to use it. I think it'd be fun for kicks but I'm not planning to use it seriously any time soon, even a year from now I'm planning to use XP still, especially if the privacy statements hold true.

I'm curious about how responsive Vista is compared to XP, and how many processes run in the background as well as how much ram/resources they occupy/utilise.

I tried the 32Bit Ultimate version for a few days, and while it was nice looking and had some cool features I still went back to my trusty XP pro. I guess im limited by my 2gb ram since Vista takes it's time when opening app's etc. just not nearly as snappy and responsive as XP is ( in my case ). Driver support has improved alot though, the only thing i couldnt get working was my Buffalo Wlan, chipset, GPU, X-Fi, antivirus, mirc etc. all worked fine.

Vista rating gave my current setup 5.3 stars out of 5.9, dunno how it measures stuff, but I guess I got a glimpse of all that eyecandy...which I don't really need/want.

So I think i'll wait for XSOS3, lol

I'm using Vista Business x86 and it's not so bad, if you have good rig it's just as responsive as XP pro. Vista has never let me down except that PunkBuster kept kicking me in BF2142 until i figured out to run BF as an administrator . But i must admit taht it's surely not worth the money. You better go buy yourself some hardware i have Vosta for free, otherwise i wouldn't even consider buying it. Most of improvements sholud have been made in Windows 98, since they improve things that are in Windows since Win95. To think that it has taken Microsoft 12 years to think of features that i have thought about 12 years ago...

Thinking about, and actually implementing, are 2 different things
    Windows 7 + SSD:
Mode: AHCI, default Microsoft driver or latest Intel RST
    Defrag: Off
Hibernation: Off (use Sleep mode, recommend a UPS)
Indexing: On (it only indexes a few locations, not your whole system unless you tell it to)
Page File: On (set to the minimum of 16MB if you have a large amount of RAM, disabling not recommended)
    Prefetch: On
Superfetch: On (RAM is always faster than an SSD - use it)
System Restore: Off (with regular backups)
Browser Cache: RAM Only, Disk Cache Off (How to with Chrome)
Documents, Music, Pictures, Videos, Downloads to HDD (Public Libraries too, see above link about junctions)
    UAC: On!

2 days ago I tried Vista x64 RTM. 3D benches were terrible and I couln't find a single tool work that would allow nvidia card overclocking. Let's hope drivers become better and better

WCG was fine. There are also X-fi drivers that work, not as good as on XP though

Vista is faster in my case, and I do enjoy the eyecandy. I am yet to find any games that dont' work. I've tried everythign I have on Steam, UT2004, Oblivion, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, Quake 4, FEAR, and Company of Heroes. FEAR had a little performance loss. The rest run fine, and Company of Heroes runs much better. Eagerly awaiting Supreme Commander, Crysis, and World in Conflict.

For those who have no trouble with vista, are you on 64 or 32 bit?

from what ive read, it seems the 64bit version is having the most concerns with programs etc not working, or no drivers .....

Id expect those all to run, there all pretty much modern games. I bet there will be probs with older games.
