I'm at least going to do my best for this. p3d is prolly slowing down after they get the crown and Anandtech doesn't produce more points than before so we could be able to keep them behind. But QMC is increasing its popularity and we have to get our team bigger or swallow the defeat eventually.

I have 3 systems on there, they will stay. Ive cut down a bit at the moment as Im redoing servers and my network etc. But there is an 2500+ 2600+ and 4600+ on there so its not all bad.

Up to you guys if we fight to hold number 1. Its nice to have it as we did it with so few of us on it, first project in the Vault to number 1 as well.

I suspect that were kinda being hamstrung by the no optis. It seems plainly apparent that many (damn near all) are still using them. So if we lose it, we could likely gain it back once the Axe falls (if it falls at all). Without opti's were gonna have a of a time keeping the wolves at bay.

No way the axe will fall, that would be downright criminal. The only good way to level the playing field retrospectively is to increase the points for those who did not use optis. That won't likely happen either.

Well that leaves us in a quandry. Go against the publically stated preference of the project and risk an uncertain axe, or lose first running the standard clients.

I'm not too keen on the idea of putting opti's back on, especially in light of the projects request that we do not. This is something Ive wanted of many projects, but never came, (or turned out to be a hollow private assurance) and now that we finally have a stated position on it, I'm uncomfortable with going against it even if it means our first place position.

If we can keep second and have our honor intact, that would be enough for me. Besides whats more fun than gaining first place than getting it, losing it and getting it back again.?

Thats my opinion, and I'm sticking to it.

akgrimme didn't really address 5.5.0, there was just some vague talk about optis that give ten times more credits. I wouldn't act based on that.

Well I've added the c2d under XSRD for now on stock client until we get more news on the project's staff position.

You may very well be correct in your interpretation, mtzki. I simply interpreted it differently.

A guy's gotta do as he thinks is best. History will tell whether it was the right call or not.

We could hold off[with effort] Anandtech @41k aday but not P3D @82k. I can reallocate some of my equipment[5k+/- ppd], but without substantial help the inevitable is #3 with no real challengers.

Other than the #1 position, what kind of points loss will we see in the vault??
Is it worth the fight if we can gain[more] points in another project?

I'll play but let you decide what we need to do.

I guess we need to decide how important is it to keep the #1 position. I pulled off of QMC to run some other projects to help us in the vault standings. My view is to let them have #1, but I will put something back on if the majority decides to fight for it.

OK I think we need a vote then, shall a poll be set up of whether to fight or not and act off the majority decision after a 24hour time period?

Until a decision is reached I'll leave the c2d on it now with opti's because twb said it's ok

Akgrimme posted this on QMC Int. Just an FYI:

    "Hello,

hopefully you all had a good start into 2007,
for us it went very well, we were able to finish some
    things that were really overdue.

    1. The DNA calculations are finished (as far as we can say),
now we continue with alkane folding as a very basic
quantum model for folding processes (kind of 'quantum-folding').

    2. The first folding-WUs are out now with a new application version,
that has the following improved features:
    - larger systems possible
    - fixed credits
    - selfrotating molecules
    - bugfixes, bugfixes, bugfixes ...

    3. Right at the moment a script works its way through our result-archives
searching for cheaters - hopefully at the beginning of next week
we can start punish them ...

    4. Our student assistent has written some nice things for the website,
expect them to appear online next week

    5. We begin to plan the first birthday ...

    Regards,
    Martin"
