Yea I an not getting good low side readings. Why would that be?
Could this be a bad vacuum or letting a bit of air into the system while changing from vacuum pump to gas? The system is cooling down fast on the evap but the low side is about 40 with the high side at about 125.
    Whats up??

Not enough restriction probably. Try longer cap line.

Seems like it is working well now. It frosts up ouick and seems to hold well.
My only problem seems to be a rather hot compressor. This is with out load yet. When my fan is on high the high side drops so it seems to have enough cooling to the condensor and it is just warm not hot. The air is moveing nicely arround the compressor so I think is has the air that it needs. What are the most likely causes for a hot compressor?

I have added more gas to get the suction line cold all the way to the pump to see if this cooled the compressor down but it did not really help much. I have the water pumping though the res and it is getting to about -6 but was icing and I used the sensor that came with the mach 1. The pressure is at max for me on the high side and may have to come down a bit I don't know. Is this the condenser lacking or what? Why hot compressor temps? the cap is the same as came with the macch 1. Some pics.

I think more captube is the correct diagnostic.

Will I have put on some insulation for the suction line and the reservoir. I will be neaten it all up later. Also messed with the amount of gas it had in it. These things together along with some heatsinks on the line coming from the compressor to the condenser seemed to have helped. I am doing about -16c water witch should be fine for me with this unit and my compressor is warm not hot. Maybe later I will get a bigger condenser and a plate heat exchanger. But for now I'm happy. Thanks for all the help.

Sorry for all the pics I'm just so excited that things are going well. A bit more tweaking and it looks like this is the final water temp. I'm very happy.

will I could not resist one more pic. The unit is done except it needs a new coat of paint as it has been kind of dinged up. Its nice and mobile as you can see. I have had a great time doing this proect and I am sure I will be doing more in time.
