GAM isn't gonna get any Sparkle days of the original type, I've got some horsepower in reserve now Unless he suddenly brings some extras to front as well I find it interesting that he redefined Sparkle day though. C'mon GAM, I dare ya to challenge me again sometime

Just trying to be realistic there Sparky

'Sparkle Day' has such a nice ring to it, it would have been a shame to drop it altogether.

...I wonder if I could coax my brother into putting his two machine into the fold, for me of course....

Hehe, no don't worry. It won't happen. I won't be increasing output anytime in the forseeable future. Fold on Sparkster.

Ok I think I'm almost done playing with my Core2 rig, and it will be rebuilt in my Antec900 soon, & the Xeons will be decommisioned. Hopefully this will kick off this evening, & I can get back up into the bright red realms of production again asap

I just need to decide where my Core's are going, I've disabled VT on the 6400 in my main rig so I might swap it out for the e6300 in my dedicated folder - then get VMware on the go.

I'll have Timarak back in my sights again soon I hope, and I've got to keep Windforce & XSTM at bay for as long as I can

( ps. good point sc00p, I might keep the power usage figures to myself )

That won't do. Time to bring the x1900xt back into service.

Aargh! I should've kept my mouth shut I've managed to negotiate a swap today at work, my e6300 for a 6400 - this means I'll hopefully have 3x e6400's put on folding this week (1 on VMware Linux, 1 on Windows, 1 on native Linux)

Thanks for the service install guide Sparky, I set that up on my work box, since I've found people have used my machine & closed the clients in the past (I might bump that thread if/when I do a vmware install) Xeons have gotta go off, too much power being eaten & not enough work being done unfortunately.

On a side note, do you think you could drop an x1900 into the second slot in an SLi board, and just use it to fold on, as a secondary display with no monitor connected? Last time I looked the linux-64 client was maxing @ ~80% CPU time, perhaps leaving enough CPU for a GPU folder

I don't see a problem doing that, it should work. Trying to run in crossfire takes some driver hacking but for two independent cards it should work fine. But I've never had more than one graphics card in my computer so I can't be totally sure.

I'm putting my foot down a bit now - catch me if you can

I'm run off my feet with various jobs at the moment, so I think I'll shelf the 2x GPU plans for now - although I might find a dirt cheap PCI-e skt 754 (or even s478 board if they exist?) and drop an old sempron or P4 in with the x1900. It would be interesting to measure the power draw on such a box too. None of this will happen until the next pay-day, I've had to pay my tab at work this month for a variety of drives & a few C2D's

Anyone else been having the projects 3038 and 3039 (I think the numbers are) ending with EUE's? Or is it just me? Fold4 and fold5 seem eat those at between 12% and 35% or so. Makes me frustrated when I see EUE's

Been having plenty of those for the past 3 days...Add to this 2 rigs down because of a power shortouts, so my prod. went down from 6-7k to 3-4k
Luckily i added a few rigs throughout the week, so we'll gonna see some results soon

Yeah I noticed a 6 pointer go in for me the other day, I guess that must've been an EUE on one of these units too - couldn't see anything wrong on the machines when I got back a few hours later. Good luck getting the machines straight Windforce; although it's quite relaxing for me seeing your ETA to "Jimkle Day" (no doesn't work does it) is over a year at the moment

yeah not all the systems seem to have trouble, but every so often they just eat them. Not sure why.

Fold3 pulled a strange stunt earlier today. It stopped doing checkpoints so the log file reports an EUE and it supposedly uploaded the WU. But while I could access the log file and ping the system I couldn't log into it. So I rebooted it and when it came back up it continued working on the WU it supposedly uploaded?

Yup, had to change my UPS ( 15KVA ) at the office
One of the rigs is fixed but shutdown, and the other one is still @ the ER waiting for a PSU that will arrive on Sunday...
I had so much work this week that i barely added 2 new rigs in F@H, so yes, you can relax for at least a week

I've got an opportunity to buy a s754 mobo, A64 2800+, 512MB RAM, and (somewhat cheapo) 400W PSU for $112, or $92 without the PSU... So tempting! I have the money... but if I do this that puts me that much further away from watercooling my PC... What to do?!

Yeah I've got to agree with GAM, hang on for the watercooling & push that 165 It'll kick more arse when the WinSMP arrives, or if you get VMWare/Linux on there

Hope that machine gets it PSU & comes out of the ER safely today Windforce, you need it on to catch me
