    dfi infinity nf ultraII m2

I'm a rookie overclocker, need some help. I just got this new board and I'm trying to overclock it. I've run into a wall around 2650-2700mhz, I suspect it has something to do with ram but I'm not sure. How can I set it lower than ddr400 setting? Anyone know what I am doing wrong? My hardware is:
    dfi infinity nf ultraII m2
    opteron 1212
    Corsair XMS2 pc5400 (1X1GB)

look for max async latency and set it to 8ns. Up PCI-E clock to 105-110MHz. Set to 2T memory timing. Set your next 3 settings (Cas, trcd, trp) to 5 and tras to 15. That should loosen up your ram a bit. You can't set ram divider less than 400.

There is no max async latency option on the Infinity Ultra II-M2.
If the CPU really needs 1.5v to get to 2.6-7GHz then it probably can't go much higher.

Could've sworn it did, but I've been using this M2N-SLI for a couple of weeks now, which has it and my memory ain't as good as it used to be (my brain, not my system memory....LOL). I still think loosening his memory timings and some manual tweaking is in order. With everything on Auto, he could be hindering his OC.
    Don't give up yet.

Thanks. I entered the settings suggested (except the ascync latency) and it helped a little, I'm now at 2750mhz. Is my ddr2-667 ram the bottleneck? Will getting faster ram allow me to clock higher?

SPQQKY is right about the timings. When you use a divider on the RAM it automatically tightens the timings, which you don't want since you're overclocking anyway.

The modded bios with autoset MAL didn't help me improve my overclocks (CPU must have reached it's limit), results will vary.

@MrW your RAM should not really limit your max overclock since you're able to run it much slower than 667.

Unfortunately, not necessarily true.AM2 chipsets (or mem. controllers in AM2 CPUs) have some (weird) tendency of setting secondary timings to some really "odd" figures after RAM reaches some (high) frequency.A few apps in WinXp can fix this, but no Brisbane(65nm) support for now.

But he's using low freqeuencies on the RAM. Or do you mean high overclocked for the divider ? Maybe he could try 533 divider too.

    Multiplier/Memory Divider Table

That'll help to determine what settings to try to find the most comfortable spot for your cpu and ram.

So at these setting I won't reach my stock ram speed until 333ht/3.33ghz? Did I read that right?

It is right for 9x multi. Lots of headroom.

If you guys want a special mod bios, I know the RHCF admin has been doing mods on request. He can add the missing memory timings if you know what you the setting you want. Just post a request.

If you want an overclock, but nothing extreme, I would use the 10x multiplier, the 533 divider and raise the HTT to 267, that'll give you 2.67GHz and your memory will run at it's rated speed. You can loosen your memory's timings and raise the HTT and see how far you can get.
It's all a bit of trial and error.

    Thumbs up Thanks everyone!

I'm just getting started OCing my x2-6000+ & AM2 so it's all new again to me too. Also got 4GPQ from Gskill, working under Suse 10.2 64-bit.

This stuff should help me a bit to get a little more out of my WC rig before the GREAT MAY MADNESS (See sig if interested).
I will be very happy w/ a 10% OC if I can get it

Just borrowed some ddr2-1000 from a friend and it has worked wonders. I'm reluctant to give it back. (It worked at 3.0ghz on the first boot!) I honestly don't understand why, since my ram was not even near stock speed before. I guess I'll order the same memory he has and hopefully I get the same results.
