    Beta XP Service Pack

Haven't tried it yet but here is a link to the beta XPsp1 build 1060. Download is about 120mb.

Who's brave enough to go first?

First one is an exe file, 2nd link is a .rar file .

UPdate: the first link is not working at the moment.

LOL yeah and most peeps are still on dialup so the will have to get the cd from M$

OK I braved it, Haven't checked too much yet but here is a list of files that are changed. First off, if you have a custom boot screen (ntoskrnel.exe) and theme file (uxtheme.dll) then be prepared to re-install them.

BTW, I imaged my drive first!!!

BTW, during the install it tries to phone home with M$ !@#!?! I have zonealarm installed so it warned me and I just said no to the connection and then the install went on ok.

Also if you have previously ridded your system of Alexa, the sp1 re-installs it so you need to run ad-aware or xp-antispy to get rid of it again.

It's been one of those wierd days!! :o

I deleted my last post concerning a possible hd problem when running norton speed disk after installing sp1beta. It seems that a jumper on one of my hd's had come off (don't ask how, I have no idea but it was loose fitting so maybe vibrations over time??), it must of happened just when I was defragging, hence my blame on sp1beta. Wierd is all I can say!!! Still, install it at your own risk!!

LOL I'm talking to myself anyway!

I have tried SP1 and it increased the system shutdown time to 17 seconds as opposed to 2 or 3 seconds non-SP1. I unistalled it and the shutdown times reverted back to normal. I bugged it.
