No post, no beep on p5b deluxe after oc

    Hi.
I just installed a new bios.. and was testing.
got it to boot at 530 Mhz fsb. then I just for the fun of it, tried 540.. but now it won't boot.. ..normally it just automatic detect a bad oc, and go to default settings.
I have tried to reset bios (for a couple of mins with jumper on clear cmos).
but nothing works.. no post, no beeps from system.. it worked before..
I didn't change any v settings.. only the fsb.

is my mb (against my thoughts) dead ?

ps. have tried to remove power, and battery for 30 secs.

Does it matter where the clear cmos jumper is placed when the batt is off ?

    EDIT:
Welll tried having the battry off for an hour+ .. with jumpersettings on 1,2 first.. then after 15 mins on 2.3 (clear cmos) for allmost an hour.. then back.. still no bios beeps..
guess I have killed the mb.

You might have to do a hard reset on the board... Try taking out the cpu completely and booting without the cpu. After 15 seconds the mobo should be reset.

mine did that , thought it was dead, bought a new one (it was insulated for phase and i didn't feel like cleaning it). turns out 1 stick of ram went south and the new board had the same prob (no beep, no post) tried both sticks 1 at a time and the second stick would boot it fine. got new ram and now i got a back-up mobo at least. and a $185.00 lesson about trying things before giving up and ordering new.lol

try using just 1 stick of ram in the slot furthest away from the cpu.

KG, I have no reason to believe that you are careless but just in case, did you pull the correct clear CMOS jumper? Did you put it back correctly? The clear CMOS jumper is near the "Casing Intrusion" jumper in the P5B series and I have seen at least one other guy mixed them up in another forum.

I have a p4p800 deluxe here that did the same thing. I went through a lot of things, even tried different ram, vid card, cpu, bios chip etc.
Finally, got it going again by removing everything from the board and tried to boot it clean. After this, it boot right up

Same crap just happened to me as soon as I flashed to the BETA 0908 bios. Said the PC will reboot in 5 seconds, it did and never came back up. I restarted the PC a few times after that, and thought to myself, F*ck I just screwed up a brand new board that I didnt even have for 6 minutes . My last try was to unplug the power cord from the PSU, and BAM! Booted right up I got lucky. So far this BETA bios seems good.
    Nothing anymore

(and ofcourse all cables, including pwr to psu), tried RAM in every slot with both my sticks. nothing happens so far..
