It's not the world's highest overclock but it's good and stable at default voltage and runs under 60C which was what I was hoping for.

How do you expect to prove stability 24/7 with an hour of blend? First of all, I am a big fan of small FFT for processor testing, although this thread doesn't require it. And second, I have stress tests fail at 4-5+ hours all the time.Originally Posted by Cracker

For myself personally, I run small FFT's for processor stability, then Blend for system stability. For my OC to be everyday acceptable to run my rig at, it must pass 24hrs of each test. Otherwise you better have a good backup plan- I recommend Acronis 9.0.Originally Posted by shifty803

If you remove the drive you install PM on, the other drive will not boot because the MBR is missing. With Acronis, as soon as you are done cloning, unplug your old drive then restart.... new drive is perfectly cloned every time. Keep one drive unplugged at all times.... re-clone monthly to keep things up to date.
This process saves a lot of time if you ever corrupt an OS because you pushed it too far.

anyone think an automatic virus/firewall/windows update could hose a OC in the middle of a run??
The last two nights my OC fails and I think it is co-incidental with a Kerio auto update in the middel of the night.

If your system is not 100%stable then any automatic update or pretty much anything could bring it down like a house of cards.Originally Posted by cdelong

Yeah I think hours and hours of a game is a better test than orthos/prime in the end. But Prime and Orthos can be verified, whereas 8 hours straight of BF2142 cannot.
The only thing that crashes on my system is f***ing ventrilo because of the SoundMax drivers. Had to order a new sound card so that I don't have to deal with ASUS driver nonsense. The mobo is a great clocker, but their driver situation is quite frankly unacceptable.
System crashes are a matter of numerous things. Orthos just tests cpu and ram. U may game for 10 hours without a crash and orthos fails within 30' or the other way round.
Games however stress cpu way less than orthos...

Not the greatest overclock, i was running 3.4ghz (1.45v Bios) for a couple months but the temps were too high (i.e. high 70s under 100% load). So in the meantime until better cooling and/or thermal grease arrives this is it.
Cheers.
