    finally making the switch

OK these canterwood overclocks are driving me nuts, so I've finally made the switch to Intel. I decided to start with a 2.4/800 since I've never messed around with a P4 and will probably fry this thing within a week or two. I'm going to run it with 2 x 256mb pc3200 twinmos (winbond) and an SLK-800U HSF for a few days, then switch it over to the prometia once I get a new mounting kit for it.

BTW these chips are available in Belgium already, at least one shop in Antwerp has them (forcom.be)

LOL, can't blame you, the canterwoods would make me switch too .....except can't afford it now and the cooler I would want to use cannot be easily converted to intel as the evap head is handmade....may try one in the prommie when finances change for the better.

umm, I got the chip at the place that I linked to in my initial post, forcom.be.

Right now I'm burning the chip in at 3ghz (250*12) at 1.55v using the stock Intel cooler, with the memory at 4:5 ratio, 5-2-2-cas2. I haven't taken the NB cooler off it yet, either. The folding@home performance really surprised me, it looks like 3ghz will get me close to 150pts/day (7:30/frame on a P909 with two consoles running).

Here is my best mem score after messing around for a few hours, remember this is with totally stock cooling:
