    X6800 meets -100°c "Blackbox"

    Hi everybody,

today I started playing with my X6800 and my -100°c "BlackBox" cascade made by ice-man.

    The specs:

    CPU: Core2 Extreme X6800ES "B1" Week 17
    Motherboard: ASUS P5B Deluxe 1.03G VCore&VDroop mod Bios: 0903
    Memory: 2x 512MByte Corsair PC8500C5
    PSU: Fortron Source 700W
    VGA: ATI Radeon X800GT lol
    Cooling: -100°c "Blackbox" cascade
    OS: Windows XP Prof. SP2

    My latest scores @1,816V :

    PI 1M: 10,547s@ 4908MHz

    Max. Frequency: 5000MHz

    Validation URL

I think this scores aren't the limit and they're still some MHz to squeeze out during the next session.
Btw. Anybody experienced that the P5B Dlx always reboots when VCore is above 1,85V?!

During 1M the evap was constantly at -91°c.
Have you any clue regarding the reboot issue at >1,85V?
I'd love to reach 5,XMHz pi-able like you

R1150 on second stage? -91C loaded looks great; mine is more like -85C loaded; BTW that's not bad for a R290+R170 2-stager.

Not experienced this issue with Vcore but with Vmch. Did you tried benching with clearly less volts such as about 1.75V. I was able to boot into windows 5000MHz@1.74Vcore with mine and 1.8V+ wasn't really interesting.

Yes, the second stage is filled with R1150. Your temps are great
To be able to disable the 2nd core via the BIOS I need the 0804 BIOS?
I think this option would help me to improve the score.

Of course, disabling a core is the right tweak just run -> msconfig -> boot.ini -> advanced options -> numproc set to 1 and then reboot

I didn't notice you was running both cores; I guess you'll be able to reach 5GHz benchable with only 1 core enable.

    Xavier

LD,didn't you achieve 200mhz more on my cpu with same temps and vcore?and with a retail chip.I think an ES chip should go at least 5.2ghz on cascade...

ES aren't inevitable better than retail chips. It depends on the chip itself.

    Nice cooling system

Try this mobo but only with vcore mod.

I used P5B Dlx only with vcore mod, and no problem when set >1.9V.

Life sometimes gets in the way of what we want to do.

Unfortunately, while removing the insulation a small transistor where the vdroop mod is soldered fell off. I try to repair it, if it's not possible no more benching in 2006
Next step will be 8800GTX SLI on a decent nF680i in 2007
