    Crucial Ballistix question 8000

    hey all,

i was thinking about picking up a pair of ballistix 8000 ram. however, i hear that they changed the ic from the old DQT to GMH. if i pick up a set from newegg will i be guaranteed to get the GMH? any chances retailers will still have old sticks left from the old batch?

also, does the tracer ballistix version have the same GMH ic?

    thanks all.

Both the Tracer and std Ballistix 8000 speed use D9GMH ic's exclusively now. I just got a set from the egg a week ago and they have GMH.

Im looking for Good ddr2 ram myself. I think I narrowed it down to Ballistix pc-6400 or the PC-8000. which route would be best to go for overclocking using an NVidia 680i mobo. I can get the PC 8000 ballistix for $263 after MIR and the PC-6400 for $220 after MIR. Im just wondering if its worth the extra money to get the 8000 over the 6400. They both use D9 chips but I guess the 8000 guaranteed to run at 1000mhz. but I have heard that the pc6400 has great overclock potential.

Should I go for the PC-8000 or the 6400? I just want the best ram for under $300 really and it pretty much comes to the ballistix, firestix, or corsair 6400 C4.

With the heatspreader change, AFAIK. Crucial=Micron, can't go wrong with that.
