My e6600 idles at 54/51 in tat and rises to 73 under TATs 100%workload level. Is this too high? Its on the stock cooler.

Way too high, remount it. Use AS5 and make sure all the push pins are inserted all the way.

TAT load is extremely stressful.

I agree with lawrywild. it sounds like you need to invest in a better cooling device.
i am using as5, and the heatsink is on flush, i guess ill remount it.
51 sounds a little high at idle.. is everything stock?
More info would help. if you had more vcore, then 51 at idle makes sense. If not, on a stock cooler you should be in the 40's.
no, everything is stock. 1.30 on the vcore bios auto settings. nothing overclocked. Im gonna go ahead and pull the cooler again and reseat with less as5.
i re-installed my artctic colling freezer pro 7. ambient air is 72F. Only this time I used as little as5 possible to cover the chip. idle temps are now 43/39. TAT load temps are now 59/56!!![]()
EDIT: Something odd. I enabled CPU Q-FAN and now my Vcore is at 1.14!? 37/32 in TAT. I didnt think Q-FAN adjusted VCORE!?
