GPUs are far more powerful at F@H than a C2D, at least the right GPU.

My x1900xt is OCed to 783/864. It takes 5 minutes and 7 seconds to complete 1% of a WU, which means a WU worth 330 points is going to take just a bit over 8 1/2 hours to complete.

That translates to just over 900 points per day. No single CPU core can do that at the moment.

My x1650xt on the other hand takes about 12 minutes per step.

Is that stock clocks on the x1650 there? I wonder if that would be a good upgrade to one of my older rigs...surely the PPD would be better than say the 100 or so I'd get from my P4 2.66 or my old sempron..hmm. AGP cards seem to be a little more expensive than the PCi-E equivalent tho'.

I wonder how this card folds, as it seems to fall in between the x1650's and the x1900GT's in terms of price. Looks like it's a 580 core, 1400 mem, 36 pipes card.

It's clocked at 640/770, which is just a hair over stock clocks on my HIS Turbo card I got (factory OCed to 630/730).

Once I get one of my lower clocked A64 dual-cores running, I'm sticking it there, instead of in the 3ghz opty 165 machine.

The x1950pro is pretty much a refresh of the x1900gt, although it doesn't OC as well, thanks to a VRM that can't handle much heat.

I do like the Silencer-style sink on those HIS' Yeah I need to juggle a machine or two around too, my PD 805 has emt64 instructions so I should really get the linux SMP thing going on here, rather than 1xGPU 1xCPU in windows. Then maybe put the GT in a low end single core board It's going nowhere at the moment 'cos the 350w PSU in the 805 starting burning out yesterday whilst gaming & I'm having all sorts of problems getting my Silverstone 560 PSU delivered

So the x1950 doesn't look like too bad an option really, it's about £25 cheaper than an x1900GT over here, maybe some decent sub 10-min frame times possible?
