Looks like GM is on the up...can't say that about Ford but anything can happen.

08 mustangs should be just about on par with the camaro's , 360hp, and new body style, they look kina cool.

and gm and ford will never go out so long as there are farmers in this country, because the nissan titan just can't keep up.

Historically (and especially in the last 15 or so years) the Mustang has lagged behind the GM Camaro/Firebird in performance. I don't expect it to be any different in 2009.

So here's the deal. My good old parents need a new car, and as I will use it too I have some input in this. So it needs to be fast.

0-100kmh (62mph) in 8s
4 seater, 5 doors
automatic gearbox
Needs to be stylish
$45k budget

We are looking at: Mecedes A/B/C Class, Civic, BMW 1 series, etc.

yup. American cars handle like crap. What about the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 8 or 9? Screw 0-60 in under 8 seconds on an automatic stock... The Lancer evo does 0-60 in 4.8 seconds. Mitsubishi 3000GT does 0-60 in 5.2 seconds. Or you could go Subaru Impreza WRX. Those are pretty fast cars as well. Those, and the ones that the guy listed 3 posts up from this one.

I'd also say the Mazda RX-7. You can probably find a 1993 somewhere. 5 speed manual and mod that. But that car is a purely enthausists car. Lots of maintenance and you'd have to know a good amount about cars. I'd love to have one, but I don't have the money.

The new 2007 Infiniti G35. 306hp, auto, $38.3k usa with navigation and premium sound system. Don't know how much where you live with tariffs/taxes/etc.

I think it's an appealing car as well. A little over 300 horse power, all wheel drive and comfortable.. it all sound good to me
