    4x1gb GBHZ on p5k dlx

Just picked up the p5k dlx tonite, plan on replacing a p5n32.

anyone have any luck running 4gb of G.skill 2GBHZ pc 6400. the black modules?

cant for the life of me get the board bootable !

2 sticks works like a charm in yellow slots.\

also seeing odd SATA issues, wonder if it has to do with ACHI. will try to enable that and install windoze tommrow...

what modues seem to be best with this board? it seems kinda of finky.

I have been running 4x1gb mushkine redlines from day one with this board no problems. Here they are running 490fsb x 7 prime stable with my quad. I am not sure why the gskills wont boot. Try 3 sticks and see if it recognizes that you might have a bad dimm slot.

i bumped my 6600 up to 1333 , shouldnt be a big deal.

i was able to boot in with 4gb at 2T

    at least it works.!>@!

2t is a bummer though, was under the impression this board would eat 4x1's up for dinner. the p5n32 plus ran perfect with these modules...but is giving me major BSODs at only 3.4 ghz now. 3.2 is stable...ohwell still gonna sell that one. i have faith in p5k!

maybe i relax main timings, i should be able to run 1T, which will be about the same.

i bet it lies in the subtimings..going to bed, dont have time to play around anymore

I tried 1 T at the weekend and i found my cellshock wouldnt post at less than 1000Mhz but would and was stable at 1000+ so i guess it was the sub timimngs were tighter under the 1000mhz setting anyway i am running stable at 1008Mhz 4-4-4-12 1 T at 2.3 volts

Black slots are best for higher frequency

i love asus, ive owned probably 7 diffrent asus boards in 6 years.

but the past couple have just been poopers, including a s939..after 2 rma's finally got a working one with that. more like i dont want to deal with customer support if i need to RMA . like many have said their support has gone down the pooper lately.

will tread in abit waters. never owned one.

I just got to ask, does it have any impact on performance? 1T/2T

well iam no intel guru. but on amd boards 1T nets about 15-25% improvment in memory bandwidth and performance

1t on intel from what i understand is actually a bit more important because of the off die memory controller they still use.

so yes 1t is saught after. on benchmarks you will def see a diffrence, real world probably very little

I had problems with 4 sticks of HZ too...i can only boot with frequency fixed in board, auto doesn't boot.

BTW i went to Asus ftp to see if there were any new and i found a new bios

    ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/mb/so...eluxe/0403.zip

Im gonna try it to see if all sata problems are gone

Black slots huh? Damn, I've got them in yellow.

Will try at 1000 MHZ today for 1T - so far I have been unsuccessful at the following frequencies:

    400 4-4-4-10 2.1v
    422 4-4-4-10 2.1v
    450 4-4-4-10 2.1v
    450 4-4-4-12 2.1v
    475 4-4-4-10 2.2v
    475 4-4-4-12 2.2v

Guess I'll have to try at 500 and beyond.
