    agreed 100%. I never bothered "upgrading" from 98 SE to it. Yet somehow though it managed to run fine without any reinstalls for 4 years straight by a totally computer-illiterate user until the computer got hit by lightning.... But that was probably a rare occurance.

    I honestly don't care much about DX10 right now since I have no money to upgrade to a DX10 card anyway

    I understand it as DX10 can and will not run on XP, period, it just can't be done.

    well, at least my little registry trick can "upgrade" my DX9 to DX10 or whatever version i want.
    usually useful when you want to reinstall your DX. just downgrade your DX via registry.
    \HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\DirectX
