not much performance loss prolly in order of %5 single channel, but just a guess.
Mushkin HP6400 would probably fit your bill
. I got 480 mhz stable 5-5-4-x and 425 or 450(I forget) 5-4-4 stable 2.1v on gigabyte board
.
Micron D9 will go higher, but that board doesn't like D9 as well as Asus does
. I hear even some of the HP6400 is going >1ghz. Tight timings not quite as important as overall mhz and how you can scale bus. So I wouldn't concentrate so much on tight timings versus getting a matched kit now. Now for $150 your not going to touch 2gb kits,
. But you could get a 1gb stick and 99%+ change if you bought another later it would work fine together. I think anandtech just did a review on your board and came to conclusion about micron D9 on that board. I've experienced similar results on my DS3. However my HP6400 is my day to day ram on my #1 game rig sitting with 6300 24/7 at 480, backed off 5-10mhz from max stable orthos/stress prime stable and I could bench at 495mhz

otherwise if you want d9 then there are a variety of bargain D9's out there such as

etc...
99% of people will tell u to get D9, but not everyone will be at your house giving you tech support when D9 may or may not clock as high as the IC on the HP6400 on the Mushkin. Now I'm not saying I will be either lol, but I'm just giving you my 2cents and experience with gigabyte board and conroe and ddr2
. I have 10+ packs of mem and while this isn't the absolute best kit of mem I have, it IS the best kit of mem I have for THIS board
.
thx
