Does this mobo still like to burn some memories?
i'm sorry for this question, but I don't have too much time to choose my new test mobo.

i have it and it burns my corsair dominator
send both to rma, mobo and memory
it seems if you don t fix memory voltage manualy, mobo overvolt the ram

Hello,
Just received a new board from EVGA, but i cant manage it over 430 FSB . ( 430 from win = freeze ).
I`m using E6700 ..
Any suggestions?
10x.

these nv680i chipsets have been known to have holes in the fsb, try if increasing the fsb by a 100 ( like from 1400 to 1500 ). not sure have this been fixed in the newer bios versions though. the other alternative is that maybe you just have hit the max oc with that chip in those voltages that you are running your e6700.. not all overclock well.
but in order for us to help you we need more info on your settings !!

My E6700 is very nice ( 1.31 @ 3600, 1.43 @ 3800 orthos stable )..
Today I tried to drop the voltages ( FSB and SSP, because with auto they are high.. 1.4 and 1.4 ), and with this i can boot woth 450 FSB, sometimes its stable, sometimes not.. .
I thing the board just killed one dim from my cellshocks ( without 2.1v dont start ( c1 and beep )).

I Flashed to the P28 Bios from P27. The BIG plus for me was getting my Stepping 5 2.4ES Duo from 3.6Ghz to 3.9Ghz & oh so very Benchable! Anything over 3.6Ghz on the P27 just showed random crashing, irrespective of any Voltage increases
However, it didn't last long, cos 2 days later, I noticed a Noise (a popping & scratching sound) coming from the speakers. As I lowered the Voltages, the noise wasn't as loud but still there, so I figured summat had blown on the Mobo & whipped up an RMA with my Supplier. Playing a bit more, Resetting CMOS on the P28 made no difference & not really looking forward to the prospect of Stripping my H2o rig, I flashed back to the P27 & am now back at 3.6Ghz with no noise problem.
The noise was still evident on the P28 at default speeds & after a CMOS reset so I was really suprised to loose the noise for going back to P27.
When I flashed back to the P27, I had a C1 error before I reset CMOS. I had never had a C1 error ever prior to this & thought summat had definately blown on the board. Initially, I had to do a Ram Dance around slots 1 & 3 to get a boot & also thought I'd nackered one of my OCZ 8500 SLI Sticks.
Anyway, my board is now fine for reflashing with a CMOS Reset on the Jumper & both sticks of ram are now back at 2.2v Linked with 1600 (400Mhz) using 4-4-4-8 1T & yeilding nearly 8200Mb/Sec.
You might find for Re-Flashing your Bios & setting the CMOS Jumper to Reset might clear your issues. - It did for me!
Good luck however it turns out for you!

Seriously considering purchasing this mobo as im sick of my pitiful p5w64
But could anyone confirm if this board is still burning memory sticks ?
I have corsair dominator, like lionel57000 so i would like to know..
Thanks very much
i believe the new revisions A1 do not burn memory sticks, this issue has been fixed as well as better overclocking and support for quad cores. Only the first 680's used to fry sticks if you overvolt them. I already bought one but have to wait for my psu to come in next week. BTW the AR versions were the ones that fried them

Are there any significant differences between this board and the LT version?
I mean after you take into consideration the fact that Physics cards never really took off, I will be replacing the northbridge HSF with water and looks don't really mean all that much to me.
Anyone got some 4x1gb results they want to share?

Rig 5: ASUS n10jc Atom @ 2.0ghz, 9300gs, 2gb DDR2, 160gb
I have the LT version.
Not too bad for about $170 AR from Fry's recently.
Max FSB for me is 447.5 and not very stable.
Anything 440 or below is rock solid.
I don't know if this is the board or if it's my E6420, but I do know that it's Orthos stable at 3500Mhz on air @ 1.525v BIOS.
Everything is great about this board, but 2 drawbacks:
1. Voltage above 2.1v - 2.2v will eat your memory.
I have the A1 version, with Rev. P04 BIOS.
The board ate one of my OCZ Reapers (PC2-8500) at higher voltage after about a month.
This bummed me out, because it was pretty damn nice running 24/7 at 3400Mhz / 1225Mhz, with top speeds of 3540Mhz / 1275Mhz for testing.
After OCZ replaced the memory with a new set of Reapers, they hit 1282Mhz, but I've been running them at 2.1v / 1100 Mhz for fear of losing another set.
2. vDroop sucks. It's common for me to set 1.5v in BIOS and only get 1.46v actual. Since the BIOS tops out at 1.6v for the LT version, I can't really push any higher than 1.54-1.55v MAX actual.
....also, as a sidenote, something a bit interesting.
I used to be able to set CPU FSB voltage at 1.4v and MCP voltage at 1.5v with Rev P02 BIOS.
Now that I have flashed with the upgraded BIOS, 1.4v is the max setting allowed for MCP.
Strange?
Anyways......if I had the money to spend all over again, I would probably go get the DFI Infinity 965S Dark.
If that board were not available, I would buy this one again over others.
I had 2 different (non Rev 3.3) Gigabyte DS3's and both of them sucked compared to this eVGA 680i LT.
Good luck !
.
.
Try the 680i SLI BIOS on the LT for the whole range of voltages, it seemed to work but needs more testing .
Since my last post above, I now have a New Board and New ram. Both the Ram & the board burnt out.
Actually, i did more testing and it's fine .

i am a to-be 680i owner.
1. does evga rma mobos that have been volt modded.
2. can a hipro ddr maximizer alleviate the ram-eating syndrome.
They will RMA your board and take it as long as it is undamaged when it gets to them and it is in original factory condition. So as long as everything works and they can't spot any modifications or you put everything back to stock you'll be fine. This goes for sending in GPUs as well. Evga don't even care if you alter the cooling on their gpus as long as you didn't damage the card in anyway and return it in original condition.
As far as volt modding goes on the 680i, couldn't tell you but if its a conductive ink method ( and not a physical modification eg soldering ) you'll be okay (just remove the ink) I am currently having my 680i AR board RMAd as I have acquired a Q6600 and don't want it to go to waste.
