What else can I crunch in the mean time? Need to setup WCG on my server it seems. Think my Opty 165 has been battered to death, it wont run MJ12 and BOINC at the same time, BSOD's my machine lol.

On another note, shiny new 4GB Ballistix arriving today ^^

Damn, it should. I have a old single core FX51 that does WCG and MJ12 no problem..
While MJ12 is down I'm going to give what I can to the XS Dimes team here.
Good guys that work hard and they have Team Russia crawling up their butts.
Dimes is www.netdimes.org if your interested.
One install per machine unless you do VM's.
You also need Java installed first before installing Dimes.
Team name is "XtremeSystems" to save you from scrolling the list. Takes forever to find it. Just type it in as I have it here between the quotes.
Takes almost no cpu power and maybe 25mb memory..
After MJ12 you won't even notice it..

A good project with good goals.

Sounds like a plan!

My Opty 165 ran on 50% OC solid for a long time on semi high volts. Think its just past it now. Got a Winchester 3500+ kicking about too if I need to replace it.

Someone got a massive head start, looks like TTT got every single easy URL going!

I still have DIMES running on my machine, need to disable it when I get home.

Yea, but TTT didn't have any staying power..
I caught him by the end of the day and so didn't Deadly_Fire!
Here's yesterday listed in order of output:
http://stats.free-dc.org/new/alluser...direction=DESC
I'm leaving dimes on the 3 machines.
It's not much but those guys at the dimes team need all they can get right now and it just takes a little memory. No cpu power at all.

People like TTT were just stuck with 200-300 or more uploads, when it went down, plus they had supply on more mashines, therefore the big output yesterday.

I had only 10 stuck...poor me....as usual, I had only set the precache to 5......goes and hits himself hard.

Worth sticking precache very high then? Means Ill have something to crawl if it goes down.

Unsure if I configured DIMES correctly. More likely I just dont understand it lol.

My mistake was I at first thought it was the same issue I'd seen before and cleared my url directory in MJ12 and I max the extra buckets so you can imagine what I lost on 3 machines...Dumb Dave

Dimes is pretty easy..The only changes I make are in the "Agent/Properties/Network" and then on the sliders in the middle move the top one all the way to the left and the bottom one all the way to the right..
That's it..

In MJ12...tools/option/crawler/ reserved buckets....you can set it to 200 max.

In dimes...Agent/properties/Network/ set delay between measurements to 15 ( slide it all the way, to the left), set file transfer to 51 ( slide it all the way, to the right )

Hell, how should a half blind turtle know, what you're doing behind my back.....it takes more than the 3 - 4 min between the post to turn around, and notice what's going on, for a turtle.

200 reserved buckets queued up now

How many open buckets/workers do you guys use? Im at 30/120 at the moment. 18 open buckets and about 100 workers or so. Averaging 7000kbit/s on download.

You can go 300, and put open buckets to the top ( you'll have around 50 + going then )

But it'll take 5-30 secs to open a page, when you max out....

I got it maxxed on all 3 machines, but then I'm braindead.
Tried a download from easynews that should go at least 2mbit and it was at 7K..

I've got mine going at 84/252 and about 30-35 buckets open; I've tried going 300 but it's not pretty I started at 20/60 and went up by 20-30 until I started seeing slowdowns and then backed off and kept it at the last best

Yea, the machine itself plays a big factor.
I have it on a clovertown, a Q6600 at 2600 and a FX51 at 2423mhz.
On the clover it never even shows 1% cpu usage, on the Q6600 once in a while 1-2% and on the FX51 it can show 97% when arciving..
The faster machine can just handle much more.
The 3 together are huge in what they can handle..

Actually for the money a Q6600 is a real beast.
Bump them up to 3600 and They are amazing machines in what they do.

Haha you should start a psychic hotline I've got a P4 540 that's gonna come out to be replaced this Tuesday with a Q6600(which hopefully oc's well) and a E4300 @ 3400Mhz on the side which will join another E4300 by January Bring on the powah!

on a side note, has anyone here gone through switching out a single-core for a multi-core? I don't know what to expect from Win XP and if it will require any steps to ensure all 4 cores are present and accounted for and ready to crunch

you would need the multiprocessor version of the HAL files, which is more a headache to try to patch them into a singlecore winxp, than its worth.

easiest & safest to reinstall
