    Giving it (yet) another shot

I'm giving MJ12 (yet) another shot, largely out of boredom. As of late (ie the last few times i ran it), the client was misbehaving for me and generally sucking hard, so i stopped running. After doing a bit of winXP tweaking here and there, i think i might've fixed some of the problems. if all is well now, i want my cherry pie back

I've been tweaking the past couple hours.
All the motivation I needed was seeing our friend from the DPC join us.
I am determined to get something out of this connection even if I have to run one box with just MJ12 on it.
I have a P4-2400 here for a 2 week visit and XP going on it now then just MJ12..Just 256mb ram in it but that ought to cover I think.

I tried runnig 2 nodes on the same connection, hoping to double the output since MJ12 was not even using half my download...

Seems my router is screwing up though, so back to one box with MJ12, and i'll put this one back on TSC or something!

    cheers DAK

It's a real shame comcast are so tight on usage to not let you use that line to it's awesome potential I doubt i'd be infront for very long if they would proven by the fact that you have closed my 1.4 mil gap down to 700K in half a day and I'm not moving too slowly.

well, once again MJ12 is sucking hard... hardly using my line, restarting very frequently... all in all being a bad camper.

oh yeah, and time out %ages of 40+ with 100+ workers and 20+ with 30.

First post in the thread. If you check in the general section, once he releases the next beta, there are gonna be some major improvements.

Guess this applies to all of us...

When we get a literally "fresh" batch of URLs to crawl then you should see much higher speeds. I've had 3 good buckets open at once and no more than that and was topping out my 4mbps connection easily but today I've been sitting on 7 or 8 open buckets and about 2mbps used. As it sits right now I've been crawling for the past hour at around 500kbps.

Just tough it through these buckets and then if that doesn't end up helping we can go through other venues such as making sure your TCPIP.CONFIG file is set right and what kinda of router you have and even down to what NIC cards you have.

Well, today looked better... not up to my usual 2M+ snuff, but 1.5M so far. I updated to 1.3.1 beta (anxiously awaiting the next beta...) and cut back workers to 90 (from 200). just upped workers a bit (to 110) and we'll see how that goes

Yea, 1.3.2 looks to be MUCH better. Anyone that tries it, be sure to post in the thread on the forum so that we can make it even better.

New Beta gets much higher percentages of succeses.

Also it seems to work out better for my setup, starting to give me the output i was shooting for... all it's got to do now is keep that up... let's see..
